Gary 0
So ermmm http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/offtopic.gif Wasnt the original question "How?" rather than "Should" we play jingles? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif If so, then I've think the questions been answered, in a number of ways. Dukesy 0
QUOTE (kazzachi @ Apr 1 2004, 04:50 PM)Maybe I have missed something... but can someone explain to me how and when a jingle is preferential to a dj making an announcement! Hmmm? When a DJ has lost their voice? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif When a DJ has no confidence on the mic? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif When the DJ has set up a waitlist on the Laptop - and is at the bar or in the bog? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Who knows???!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/laugh.gif QUOTE Dan..... I dont class "themes" as jingles.... Jingles to me are those cheesy "Youve been a great crowd, Cheesey roadshow looks forward to seeing you all again soooonnn!" What defines a 'jingle'? A 'music trail', 'music bed', 'theme', 'sample' or 'cut' presented by the DJ entertainer into their performance is essentially what I would call a 'tool'. You can find many examples of the above in 'pre-pack' form - like a DJ Toolkit disc set (how you use the 'tool' is up to you!) Any can be 'presented' in a 'jingle' like fashion, or, just as they are expected to be used - a tool. I'll agree that your example is the classic example of the widely interpreted word 'jingle'. Kazz, everybody has a different view for different terminology! Just take the phrase "professional entertainer" to that of "professional DJ" - are they generally 'classed' the same? kazzachi 0
..Dan... which is why I explained what I classed as a jingle.....! Looks like its getting worse.... playing jingles over music like vocals ! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif WE LOVE KAREN, AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE HER BACK !!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
HopDJ 0
What about using a "jingle machine" software? Would that be useful to you?
BigBen 0
You could load your jingles into WinAmp, have it running in the background and still use OTSDJ as your main source. The purists will knock me for running too many apps but it works well. [insert quirky comment]

Dukesy 0
Had a listen to the example jingles Andrew (APEVENTS)... ...very very good. Perhaps another use (apart from 'gigs) could be for 'radio advertising' in your local area? Only a suggestion - If a 'jingle' is not over used at the same event - on the same function - yes, it is very slick and presentable indeed . . . at the right moment!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif Edited May 12, 2004 by discodirect
