However, as long as you write to the Rental/Housing agency and point out that you would be happy for them to have an extra set of the keys for some new locks that you'd pay for and install, they shouldn't kick up too much of a fuss. Mention, in particular, that you would leave the locks there at the end of your rental, so they wouldnt have to worry about screw holes in the doors etc. Reminds me of an accident I had in my rental place, and obvious "cover-up". The upright vacuum cleaner fell over and the handle made a neat 2 inch hole in one of the interior plasterboard walls, just 3 days before we were due to move out and have the rental agent around for our "exit inspection". What could we do? Polyfiller? paint?...
