Yes..Ive ordered from you before. Great glowsticks, although I keep finding it difficult to transport them without a few "triggering" accidently. Any suggestions?

Also, how about some truely exclusive DJsUnited discount then? The sort of discount that non-DJU'ers cant get. Especially on the LED keyrings too...

Seems fair considering you're now on a forum that the Googlebot cant seem to leave alone...

I think you've seen the general opinion on this GLS http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif , and I would tend to agree.

I have no intention of charging anybody to advertise here, or make any profit from the ownership of the forum, and even my own business advertising is limited to one area and the odd auction http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif .

I do think that in return for sharing our traffic and free advertising that you should implement some sort of DJU Discount for our members, most of them hang around on Ebay and know the score. I know that this was mentioned last year, but you made the 1 post and vanished!.

Before you posted, I was in negotiation with a US Supplier (I'm happy to privately send you the company name for you to check my story http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif ) who is able to supply at a very reasonable price even with the freight and customs charges. If there had have been enough interest then I was going to place a bulk order as a forum group buy.

Obviously for logistical reasons, I would prefer to strike some sort of concession price with a UK Supplier however most of them were expensive enough to seek a Far East or US based Purchase, and of course I do have a business with a Fed Ex account and trade refs etc to swing it, and whilst I don't expect you to match US or chinese prices, some sort of members only offer would be a nice gesture in exchange for sharing our traffic.

Anybody interested in putting in an order, then please post your interest below

I have already got some very good quotes, however I need to get some committment for the quantity and that is where, as a community, we sometimes fall down and ideas fizzle out.

Buy price from the US is around $64 (£35) per 1000 for the 8" bracelet type, the supplier is confident that he can better this on an order of 10,000 pcs, so it would really take 10x members to each commit to 1000pcs (or similar), to stand a chance. Fed Ex Shipping would of course need to be added, and shared across the purchase, but it would still be a reasonable saving per 1000 over UK prices

Price from the far east is even better than the U.S, and this is where most glowsticks originate from. However we would need to order far more to make this workable, but the prices are VERY competitive.

Let's see what GLS comes back with, I don't think he'll be able to offer this level of pricing and it wouldn't be fair to expect him too. However, I think a DJU discount should be negotiated on a qty of 10,000pcs between members of DJU and GLS and it would save me a headache importing them myself. Don't forget i'm not making a penny profit on this particular 'group buy' http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif .

I have some samples packs coming from the US Supplier, i'll let you know what they are like.

If you've never considered glowsticks before then do so. They are a must at kids parties, either as a booking incentive, or to sell for 50p - £1.00 to the little blighters http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif . I know some D.J's who get back more profit from glowstick sales at an under 18's club night than they do from the actual booking itself!. You can get decent glowsticks for around £9 or £10 per 100. Sell them for upto £1 each and make around £90 profit on every 100 you sell. Even if you offer them for 50p each at younger kids events, its still a nice additional profit.

In all fairness, 12 months ago I invited GLS onto the forum, to try and negotiate some sort of DJU Discount for our members on his products. He isn't a DJ himself, and it would be difficult for him to participate on the forum. However, since he has re-appeared, it would be interesting to see if he is willing to work out some sort of group buy discount, it seems a lot of his existing customers are here.

You can put me down for 1,000 (that's 1,000 glowsticks not 1,000 packs of glowsticks http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif )

Hi folks

I bought 1000 from £55 a few weeks ago.

However, I'm not sure that I wasn't diddled, lol

When we're talking about glow sticks, are we talking the slender things that you make into bracelets with connectors, or those thick tube type sticks that are about the thickness of a packet of extra strong mints.

Cheers

Where did you get those from Darren?.

Bracelets are the long slender sticks which come in tubes of 50 or 100 and have the little plastic connectors included. They are often cheaper then the standard thicker glowsticks which you also described.

Most of the time the kids are happy to use the bracelets in their straight form as glowsticks and don't seem to know any different.

You may need to invest in tradional glowsticks which have a little plastic eye type hook, if you are planning on selling them at clubs since some clubber use the hook to attach a string to them and use them as a pendant http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif .

I've sent an email to several other distributors to see if we can get some sort of bulk deal.

Still looking for a total committment of 10k pcs though....only 3k so far http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I always hit this little snag with commitment on how many "Pieces" or "units" to have, when the price is unknown.

So, is it OK for me to say that I'll commit about £75~£100 on Glow necklaces (ideally the 5 or 3 colour ones), regardless of how many that buys me? maybe a mixture of other glowy products too, eg: multi colour bracelets.

I just dont wanna say "I'll have 500 pieces please", only to find out that 500 is only about £25, and I then cant buy another 1000 as there arent any of the shipment left... (did that make sense? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/533.gif )

Hi

I paid £55 for 20 tubes of 50 sticks with connectors from a dealer off Ebay.

I was expecting the thicker sticks though, or would I have had to pay a heck of a lot more for that? I'm new to this stick thingy but realise their potential for extra lolly http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Gary, I'm not looking for actual deposits yet http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif just an indication that if I could arrange a cheaper price than that offered by dealers on E-bay, or at least encourage a DJU discount from them based on a group buy - who would actually be prepared to buy a reasonable quantity.

There is no contractual agreement to purchase here, although if you have no intention of buying at ANY price then please don't post just for the hell of it!. I would be disappointed if I got a stunning price, only to find that those who did indicate an interest didn't follow through.

Darren, if you could find contact information for this dealer or happen to come across him on Ebay, could you please email or PM me his details, so I can contact him to see if he'd consider a group buy discount for us on DJU?.

The glowsticks which you refer to Darren, are the standard type which were originally used in emergency situations as a source of light. These were quickly utilised by the Army, Police, Coastguard etc and then the idea caught on by the clubbing fraternity and the rest as they say is history.

The thicker type, or traditional glowsticks are usually the ones sold in nightclubs or at large outdoor events and carnivals. They are a more expensive item but can sell for £2 or £3 each.

I think that you have probably bought a pack of the thinner, longer type which are flexible enough to be bent in a full 360 degree circle and used with the supplied plastic parts to clip the ends together to make a bracelet. These are the more common ones in our industry since they are a LOT cheaper. These come in a cardboard tube of 50 or 100pcs, where the tradional thicker type usually come in boxes, and are often foil wrapped individually.

To be honest, I only use Glowsticks for Kids Parties, School Disco's etc and since I use them (at the moment) as a gimmick purely to throw out into the crowd rather than sell them, I don't have any issues with using the cheaper bracelet type. They seem to glow very brightly and thats all the kids are interested in. I have to admit that the interest shown in glowsticks has rapidly overtaken that of the Snow Machine http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/scared.gif at such events and I was amazed at the interest shown in them.

Judging by the offers of anything between 30p and £1.50 that the kids have made at discos recently, when the throw outs have been exhasted, you could easily sell these at a good profit and I have already mentioned colleagues of mine who do already do this as a nice little sideline, and it is something which I will be considering myself in the future.
