circusricardo 0
I just brought an old Martin Robozap MSR 1200 off E-bay, I went to pick it up and whem I saw it , I could not believe it!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif It is massive!!! It weights 38kg and is built like a tank! It was also in a right old state, But when I plugged it in, Bingo it actually worked! (minus the lamp) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif I have just finished cleaning and replaceing various pieces of glass and should be getting a lamp for it tommorow, so I can see it in full working order. I will let you know how I get on!
superstardeejay 0
I think the Martin stuff in general is engineered for reliability but nowadays at the expense of performance. The Acrobat is bright straight from the box but suffers badly from easily-dirtied optics in nightclub conditions. The Wizard is very expensive, no doubt very reliable for Club Chain use, but I have to say as an avid clubber that it is easily outperformed in terms of brightness by so many far-eastern sourced rotating barrels. Last year's Martin stand at PLASA was perhaps lit too brightly and their lights didn't come over too well, a far cry from the Theatre-like performances which NJD used to put on and the copious free beer doled out to prospective Abstract AVR customers!! But seriously, cost-conscious mobile DJs would do well to consider discharge lamp barrels by Acme, Geni, Pearl River etc and their European-badged versions from Showtec, Stairville, EVL etc. And I agree the MAD spin is brighter and easier to manage! NJD do an absolutely stunning Barrel effect, the Raptor, please consider this seriously!! http://www.premier-solutions.biz/NJD-Products/RAPTOR-3.jpg .
superstardeejay 0
QUOTE Martin Audio seem to be a favourite with the installation boys, taking over where Marquee audio left. Martin have cornered alot of markets Dont forget that Martin Audio are nothing to do with the danish lighting manufacturer Martin Professional. Martin lighting's loudspeaker arm are called Mach. Martin Audio are a UK company making blindingly excellent speakers, (I think they designed Pink Floyd's stage rig) and their monitor speakers are used by BBC TV Centre amongst others. QUOTE However I do not rate their new equipment compared to the likes of the Roboscan 812 and 518 Mm these were quality in a glass, alas we shan't see the likes of them again. The 812's however were a dab hand at suffering from weak magnetism in their steppers... QUOTE I just brought an old Martin Robozap MSR 1200 off E-bay A quick word of advice, try not to switch your Robozap on without a lamp fitted. The ignitor can cause HT flash-over which may damage the lampholder or spike the main board. http://www.globoks.co.yu/prodajni_program/images/martin_audio.jpg http://www.eriksonpro.com/products/mach/images/mach_logo.gif http://www.djmeeting.de/djmeeting2005/aussteller_bilder/50.gif http://www.electrosonic.co.za/gfx/supplier/jem_120w.gif . norty303 0
The new Mania series look good, the EFX500 which is a sort of cut down Wizard and the SCX600 scanner with rotating gobos. Both look good for life on the road and not too pricey DIY plans and pro audio related technical discussions www.speakerplans.com/forum
Tim Brennan 0
I have been looking to add light effects and was considering the Mania EFX500 and SCX600. I would be intrested to hear people's views. Especially as the EFX500 is wizard like but considerably cheaper. Tim
Nedd 0
I've got a couple of Mania ef3s which are very nice little moonflowers with excellent colour definition. I've also got a pair of Mach M-fex active speakers, the sound of which are absolutely superb, even to my critical hi-fi experienced ears!
