Gary 0
Ive not stopped the wrong cd deck, since getting my Denons, they wont let you. I will sometimes cue up between 4 and 8 potential next tracks, then offer an "Instant request" spot to the audience, asking them for a show of hands to vote for what they'd like as the next track... You've guessed it...I start the wrong track off...opps!

Dukesy 0
http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Loads!!!!! Over the years - similar to above. Names are probably the most common for me. (I like them written down!!!!!!!!) Funniest one was many years ago, plugging in the 'new' transtec radio Mic pre-gig ready to test while the hall was empty, saying "1-2, 1-2," and singing "I've got big hairy http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/censored.gif "(swing low!), "Christ it's cold" or something, "If I ruled the world" and lots of innuendo and sillyness with the roadie, and then switching the mic off. Next minute, a booming voice comes over the sound system (cos I left the channel faders up) and I can hear a 'service' from the vicar (church) next door. He was using a mic too - my receiver picked it up!!!! We both felt panic - turned the faders down and quietly sat down. If we could hear him, perhaps he could hear us??!!! And his 'audience' too.......... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/scared.gif Nothing happened (I mean nothing was said directly) but I could clearly read 'p e r v e r t' scrawled into the car windscreen frost (drivers side) at the end of the night. I now apologise. Since posting this comment, after a chat with the roadie, I've since learnt that it was HE that wrote the word on the windscreen, and has not said a word for over 5 years. ChrisPointon 0
One which I keep trying to forget which happened several years ago.... Having to answer a call of nature (think it was a dodgy curry), during the 2nd to last track at a function. My Roadie assured me that he would be okay to cue up and play the last track, whilst I *ahem* took care of some other business. I returned minutes later to hear the sounds of Gerry and The Pacemakers "You'll never walk alone" drifting from the room. Fine, apart from the fact the entire function was for the disabled!!!. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif Yes, i've never lived that one down http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sad.gif

brianmole 0
Loads, but there's one I'm quite proud of!!! It was a friends wedding, and you know who got to do the disco. This was in the late 80s when vinyl was the only option. The first dance was 3 times a lady by the commodores. Now those of you who had this, remember is was a 7" with a blue label and the b side was the instrumental version. Guess what went out live... Good job it was a mates wedding! nrgize 0
http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/stupid.gif , Well to name a few: With my laptop left the volume control on the mixer turned up and a finding Nemo screensaver came on with music and people laughed. Have since diasbled screensavers! Thanked my brother for fiddling with it (not) at 18years old I thought i could trust him!! I have the amp flightcase underneath my CD player decks and have a couple of times hit the power button with a cd case turning the whole lot off and at the peak of the evening!! And once left a CD Flightcase behind at home with CD albums in. Luckily they were chart music ones and it was a wedding I was doing at the time. BUT IT IS LIKE THEY SAY!! You do learn from mistakes and i certainly have!! Email :: info@nrgize-disco.co.uk
joe 0
And, using vinyl, you couldn't quickly change it over like you can skip a track on a CD! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/laugh.gif I bet that made you panic once you started wondering "Where the heck are the words!" lol
cookiecat 0
In the olden days I was using my trusty Citronic avon II.About 1/2 an hour in one of the belts snapped on the turntable.Luckily I had left my box of spares at home. Mikeh 0
Heh The worst experience on my part was doing a 21st party for my cousins mate. Everything was going great and it was time for the stripper to come so I gave my roadie the wireless mic and told him to go stand at the front ready to give it to the stripper. Turned all the effect lights off and switched the scanners onto single white beams to use as spotlights, stripper comes in, does all her cough stuff cough and goes, then we began to play happy birthday, at the same time my stupid roadie has jumped onto the stage taking a speaker and the music power cable with him, took out the whole lot. Luckily it was family, never again! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif Ive also done the countless above, queing the wrong tacks, playing songs such as the disabled ones and also knocking the whole CD flight case over, all 90 albums across the floor http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif panic, lol quick back the oldie's tracks http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/stupid.gif Cyas Mike <center>MDM Roadshows - Professional Mobile Disco Service For The South East Email: info@mdmroadshows.com MSN: vapournetmike@hotmail.com </center>

speedy 0
Sorry to resurrect an oldish thread but i wanted to tell you all this. I played a track once and realised after 10 seconds of it that i'd made a big boo boo, and it wasn't even my fault. Let me tell you a story. Before going into the 70s trade, i did the usual wedding suspects...60s 70s 80s 90s etc... I was in letchworth hall hotel doing a wedding gig. My start and finish times were 7.30pm til 12. The wedding party were having a meal, supplied by the hotel. The meal ran late, plus the fact that the hotel don't have a permanent dance floor, so they have to clear tables then put down a floor. At 9pm, (yes 9PM!) the hotel staff were starting to clear the tables, when the fire alarm went off. Ok everybody piles out (luckily it was summer and a nice day at that). An hour later, i'm about to start. I play....Take that - Relight my fire....Oooohhh the looks i got http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/bash.gif
