After going into my full time employment after my two week break, it lasted only 10 minutes, as there was a letter waiting for me terminating my employment immediately, due to the fact I was trying to juggle a full time job and a business or two. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I am now a full time DJ, not unemployed http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif

I have a few fingers in a few pies but if anyone needs helping out give me a call, maybe now I can travel to Cheshire with my amp ?

Can I borrow a tenner off anyone ? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

.....but what do I know ?

........was your work up to standard... or did you make full use of your phone in their time!..... Well done andy... they have probably done you a favour.. knowing how often you work anyway, its always surprised me that you still was employed anyway............ Welcome to full time dj-land

WE LOVE KAREN, AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE HER BACK !!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

WHY??

Come on Andy, they've pushed you! probaly has done you a favour with all the things you have to do, but what about a future reference if you take up employment again?

Any new employer would find it strange when they apply for a refference and dont get one sent back from these people!

I also know that this was a fairly new job, wasn't it? which could indicate your employment has been terminated outside of the trial period, am I right?

When you take a job, usually on the app forms it asks is this your main employment, if you said yes and your other activities were in fact your main source of income, and they had the old crap in there about prioties etc...and this other work interfeared with the main...then no hope!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/533.gif

Agree with Paula, they can't do that, unless you were on a temporary Contract or had a contract which stipulated no additional part time occupations.

So take it to a tribunal.

The only exceptions are, if you were taking an excessive amount of time off because of it, or taking business calls in works time, or using works facilities to promote your business etc, even then they would have to give you at least one, if not two written warnings before dismissing with your services.

If you had a contract, then excercise it. Don't be used by a doormat by these bastards, and even if it doesn't result in your job back (unlikely) - but at least get what you deserve from them!.

But i've always said that if you cut down on your gadget spends on Ebay, the Disco's will give you a nice little earner, and give you more time with your family. At least you'll be able to get some sleep in the day if you've driven all night .

I used to work as an independant sales agent and had my main agency terminated http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif very worrying time but managed to get a settlement, but I had been working with them for around 20 years.

I've had close friends in simular situations and every individual has to do what's right for them. Sometimes it is better to just move on, whatever you decide to do (and it looks like you've already got it straight in your own mind) I wish you all the best.

The same thing happened to me some 14 years ago, and to be honest although there have been lean times, I've stuck at it and worked occassionally for less money than I should have done, but generally I've done OK and not looked back.

From reading your posts and comments, I don't think you'll have a problem surviving as a full-time jock (if you decide not to go for other employment) and I wish you luck and all the best.

Working for other people...........Pah! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbdown.gif

No good worrying about it, even if I did try and make something of it, the response would be along the lines of 'he wasn't very good', or 'we had a complaint', or simply 'he didn't do his job correctly', anything would do, having been on the other side of complaints like this I know it would be fruitless, anyway I didn't like the job, it's for the best.

Sorry to hear about that Ads, its better to work for yourself than to work for someone. Your off to Bedfordshire then ? Thats the home of me! Thats quite some distance away from where your based ? Where abouts in Beds are you gonna be at then ?

Can't do that show now either, other things in diary, I next planned trip is 14/15/16/17 October to Norwiach, but I will be around the country a lot between now and June next year as it is conference season. Got one in Telford but do not know the dates yet CP.

Hi

Andy, with the amount of work you're obviously doing for yourself, they've definitely done you a favour.

Wish I had the guts and faith in the DJ work enough to give up my full time drudgery. I sit at work and think about the things I could be doing to move my own business onward and upward, but the bills need paying and all that guff.

Good luck

Darren
