Eskie 0
A couple I'm gonna be doing a wedding for in a few months time came to check me out at a gig I was doing on saturday. One of the things they were asking me is suggestions for their 1st dance as they can't decide what to have, so I told them a few that I'd been asked for recently, such as Paul Weller- You do something to me, Van Morrison-Have I told you lately Lonestar-Amazed Intro-Ribbon in the sky Elvis P-Can't help falling in love Nat King Cole-Let there be love Frankie Valli-Can't take my eyes off you Barry White-Just the way you are Robbie W-Angels It got me thinking, between all the experienced dj's on here we could probably come up with quite a list of good first dance records, which would come in handy for the new dj's just starting out. Anyone wanna add to the list? Anthony Winyard Entertainment www.awe-dj.co.uk, Entertaining London & the South-East! tonyj 0
well my slogan is your night, your music, so with some background contact with the bride in advance you normally end up with a song that means something to the happy couple. shania twain- your the one works good and check out her new single always and forever, its going to be a great "your song" for a first dance. on a personal note, i have been informed by my better half when we get married the first song will be daniel bedingfield- if your not the one. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/hug.gif Member of The Musicians Union "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like hard work." Gary 0
Well I guess that D.I.V.O.R.C.E. by Dolly Parts-on is a no-no http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/nono.gif I had one couple specify that they wanted the first 20 seconds of the reprise to "Love is a many a splendid thing" (The music from "Grease" when they're on the beach at the beginning...) At 20 seconds, they wanted it cut to...Ma na ma na from the muppets.....They had a full ragtime style dance routine worked out for it... Darn! it wouldnt mix into anything.... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/blink.gif well except Mambo #5... Edited May 13, 2003 by Gary

CK`s 0
For the first song its always best to ask the coupel what they want, if possible as them both individually, as one may be dissapointed, play one then go into the other if they come up with differing tracks, its always best to ask what they want for the last track of the night too and if they have a special song. We have had a few surprises as to the first dance. Remember its THEIR day, play what they ask for!!!!
