mick 0
Friday - went out, night off, caught a local band doing their first gig, brill night lods of oldies, Small faces, Creedance Etc, Followed by a disco, very good DJ just lightscreens http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/scared.gif but his experience proved that its really only what you play that matters. Saturday - Did an engagement party, went OK they only wanted cheesey sfuff at first Cha-Cha slide twice http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/censored2.gif However got them up and did loads of oldies at the end. Left at 12-30 eating buffet left overs on the way home in the van.
brianmole 0
Friday: Arrived at venue 3:30pm, setup speeches PA, watched Life of Brian DVD on my kids portable dvd player thing, broke down speeches PA, setup disco, had meal, started DJing 10:30, finished midnight. Very easy gig, just sooooo long! Got home 2:30am http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sleep1.gif Made use of my new Redsound soundbite sampler to loop ambient sounds as requested by groom! Also, grooms son is a DJ - firmly stuck in the dark ages, can't get out of vinyl mode, he bought a Technics SL-DZ1200 (never mind) and slated all cd players as you can't tell where you are in the track - UNTIL:. His eyes lit up when he saw my Pioneer CDJ1000's and I dem'd the wave display. I think he will be visiting the Pioneer dealer today! Saturday: Arrived at venue 1:30pm, setup disco upstairs, did background music and 'bride stomping up the isle' music during wedding ceremony, waited more hours, got fed, watched 'how to DJ dvd' http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif , did meal background musac, did disco from 9pm to midnight, got home 3am. Top requests: Maceo Mac - cross the tracks, Gadjo - so many times. Even got to play Insomnia and Energy 54. Sunday: Both my kids asked why I was not around this weekend http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif , then we did a 10 pin bowling party for my 6yr old boy for his birthday. 12 x 6 year old boys aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!! So, from now on, all day bookings are a nono for me, just bad luck we got 2 in a row! The uplift in fees was not that good considering the actual hours worked, and I would do better with just the ordinary evening gigs, or I will hire another DJ at a £200 uplift to do the 'day' shift. What do you all rekon??
