John Kidd 0
Agree. I have used a SM58 on this model with no problems, gain about half way. Strange problem, the only thing left is cable as steve has tried 2 mixers and 2 mics but only 1 cable. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif John Kidd Crystal Sounds Disco VICE S.E.D.A CHAIRMAN A Member of the Musicians Union A Member of the Federation of Small Businesses
jackcu 0
Sounds weird right enough - a cable that boosts gain? Maybe he could patent it ;) I'll follow with interest. Cheers, Jack.
Steve_Mitchell 0
QUOTE (jackcu @ May 3 2005, 02:12 PM) I found the pdf with the input specs: http://www.behringerdownload.de/VMX1000/VM...SPECS_Rev_A.pdf Mic input 40dB gain balanced Phono input 40dB gain unbalanced Line in -17 to +4 db gain unbalanced The SM58 is low impedence but so are all dynamic mics (to the best of my knowledge) so I can't see what the problem is. We seem to be answering this on 2 separate threads LOL. Anyone able to take this further? Cheers, Jack. Hi Jack Yea its on 2 theads at the mo. I went to the other on one coz the boss said. jeffwall 0
Hi Just Joined today!! Im a mate of Ste Michell's using the same mixer VMX1000 having the same problem as steve. I have read on different forums that other people have had this problem alot with the beringer vmx1000. It seems that the gain on the mic is far too high and you have to zero it just to stop it blowing the house! Ste has the problem worse than me as he has a residency and playing club volume...i have the master at moderate volume (private functions etc) so not too bad, but still mic at zero and too loud! Kingy 0
Bit disapointed with this unit, we have only used it, very gently, for a couple of gigs and it has developed a hum. I have scoped this and found it to be a faulty op-amp. It is now repaired ( by me) but I thought it should be better than this. I am selling mine on. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbdown.gif
DJ SPARKO 0
the VMX 1000 is what i use and i am quiet happy with the unit although u only get a good kick of sound as you hit the 9-10 mark on the faders still learning, still experiencing, still dj,ing

But the mic inputs are still very loud even when turned off... My SM58 radio mic turned down on the gain is ok, but all the other cabled mics - including some behringer ones are just too loud.
