I know somebody uses these on the forum.

Are they nice and compact?

What is the sound quality like as against say the Mackies?

I know the bass bin is something like 300w but the tops are 150w.Is there enough power there for a fair size room?

As I said on another thread I have just heard some LEM powered speakers which were very very good compared to the Mackies but if I am going to spend that sort of money I better check out all my options

This is not a rehearsal

This is it - grab it while you can.

I think you will find the mackies will give a lot more oomph than the lucas. The lucas 1000 in my opinion is a nice system but would be pushed at larger gigs, for the price they are in my opinion relatively expensive.

If I was you I would go for mackies. The band I worked with yesterday used some mackie bass bins and some ev tops and they sounded sweet.

I own and use a LUCAS 1000 and for all the venues I do it is superb.

It really depends what you want and how big your venues are....

The most I ever do is a hotel room that holds about 200, and the LUCAS 1000 copes fine.

I have used Mackies and I rate the LUCAS 1000 over them.

I have not used the LUCAS 600, but think it would be fine for smaller venues.

As for weight and ease of transport, the bin is a little heavy, but I manage it fine, and it's on wheels, so as long as you avoid stairs, no problem at all.

Only weak point I feel, is that the LUCAS, as with all HK stuff, does get scratched very easily and that makes the padded bags essential.

And the "One Bin" look does take some getting used to, from someone who loves a symetrical show, but you can sort that by hiding the bin under your deck-stand, behind your cloth. Doesn't affect the sound at all.

All in all - I would say the LUCAS 1000 was the best thing I ever did, and this week I have moved down ANOTHER gear transport wise, from Estate and Trailer, to Estate, and this week down to a HATCHBACK!!! And I can still pack a fantastic little show in!!!

I agree with Dales sentiments, I have lucas 1000 and it's coped fine with 200 people at a venue and above apart from the quality of sounds, the space factor is highly important for me and they sound superb. If anyone knows of any deals, I'd be intrested in investing in another for larger venues.

I have a lucas 600 and it has been hammered with every sort of gig from small church halls to ballrooms and its rocks! Very reliable clear, punchy sound. Copes amirably with a 200 strong function.

Hi

I've heard the lucas 1000 and god did it sound good. the only reason I went for the Mackies over them was the weight.

The only time the lucas 1000 wouldn't cope was if you were intending to blast the wax out of your audiences ears. The problem is that a small number of DJ's think that everyone in the venue needs to hear this great sound system as loud as it can go and isn't satisfied unless he cam make everyone vibrate like a tuning fork.

Thank god we're all sensible here.

Hi ive got the dap 600 soundmate and its exactly the same as the lucas 600 done loads of gigs with 100-120 no prob...the sound qual is the same as the lucas as ive heard both, i agree with the previous comments the lucas is lite weight and easy to load in the car/van and produces a great sound easily capable of small/med venues, havin said that ive just bought pair of mackies coz doing bigger gigs more and more, gettin rid of my dap system soon...but its done me proud many times

As mentioned in an earlier post, if you buy the Lucas , you need to get the covers etc for it. They are well padded and quality stuff - I'm tempted to buy another for a backup or for coping for larger rooms so if anyone knows of any deals going around, please share.
