I started driving when i was 17 , im now 31, i do about 500 miles a week and i have just had my first acident that was my fault... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif

14 years x 52 weeks x 500miles is about 364,000miles so im not doing too bad i hope!

there was very little damage only a broken lens on my head lamp and a small ding in the bonnet of my van.

but make sure if this happens to you that you inform the insurance company, its in the small print that if you fail to report such things then your cover is invaild.

Any way im going to celebrate this one and hope the next one is in atleast another 14 years....

I wonder if it's the same person I rear ended about 16 years ago who made a habit of starting to pull away at roundabouts but then stop again. It was the 3rd time this driver had been hit up the rear at a roundabout in 8 months http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sad.gif

It’s beginning to look like a week for shunts! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif

A colleague at work had his neighbour come out of his drive out of control & hit his car with the result of a new door now required.

A friend had his car ‘T-boned on a roundabout with the result it is now a right off & I had someone back into me in a car park so I’m off tomorrow to have a new bumper fitted.

It’s strange how accidents seem to come like busses (none for a long time then they all come at once) a few years a go I think my insurance company would have been glad to see the back of me.

In 3 years I had 3 different cars,

The first was a Ford Granada, while driving passed a row of parked cars someone pulled out hitting my back wheel arch. (Only light damage to my car) I then had someone in a Mercedes run into the back while sitting in traffic, this was followed by a Double Decker bus again while sitting in traffic, followed by a Fiesta at traffic lights. The Mercedes had a hole in the front bumper from my tow bar, the bus had a broken front number plate & a dent in the shape of the tow ball, and the Fiesta was a right off. All 3 resulted in no damage to my car (good ole towbar) then a window fell on it while parked at work. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/533.gif

Time for a new car a Vauxhall Carlton hopefully this may be a bit luckier!

This car was parked at Asda & when I came out it had a smashed back window, then a lorry backed into it while parked at work.

The next car was a Volvo 240 estate, someone decided to break into it while parked outside Tesco’s then a friend was following me down to Devon and decided to use my car to assist his braking at a roundabout (again the tow bar saved my car but made a mess of his.) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/oops.gif

How the hell can my cars have been involved in 7 incidents while not even moving?

Now it’s starting again! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/scared.gif

I have a Toyota 4Runner as my vehicle.. As i am completely insane i do get lots of mud on it... BUT i always clean the plates and lights before veturing on the road.. So my vehicle is always visible.

So i was driving back one day from an event, turned round a sharp bend on a country lane slowing down as i went round, and a tractor was coming the other way so being the fact i'm not scared of any verge, decided i would mount the verge (about 8" higher that the road surface) to allow the tractor to pass... But some divot decided because i was stationary, he would try overtake the tractor ! So i was waiting for the tractor to stop, but in stead he kept going, and the divot mounted the verge (was only 2" or less where he was) and continued to drive on it past the tractor... Now even if i was in my truck - i wouldn't do this! but this looney decided to try it and got level with the tractor when he realised that the road was indeed too thin for a car and a tractor with trailer, decided to break and because of the speed he was going slid straight into the front of my truck !!!!

His car was a right off, my truck was pushed back 6" and with use of the tractor and my 4 wheel drive we had to "extricate" the car from my front....

... BTW... i have a solid steel box section bar across the front, it has my winch and a towball attached - it dont bend when i ram it into a tree http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif , so you can imagine the damage to the car... Apart from the coat of paint it needed, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/188.gif on the bar... there was no damage to my vehicle...

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/laugh.gif I had to laugh... As the tractor driver said "These idiots thank think they own the road and believe everyone else is trespassing on it and just because your BMW has half decent brakes.. dont expect it to stop on wet grass... Infact leave the grass to us who know how to drive on it" !!!!! I have never seen anyone blush so much! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/oops.gif

A little advise to all of you... Always carry a camera in your car. Ideal for the insurance reports!

EDIT:

Jasper Carrot collects insurance claim forms like:

"The accident was caused by me waving to the man i hit last week!"

"As i drove home and pulled in to the wrong drive, i hit a tree a haven't got!"

"I saw this sad faced, slow moving gentleman, as he bounced off the bonet of my car."

The only UK number 1 record to contain in its lyrics the title of the song which knocked it off number 1 was... Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (lyric: "Mamma Mia")!

One of my favourite Jasper Carrot insurance quotes was:

“I swerved all over the road before hitting him”
