large hotel in london

here we go again.

about 3 months ago i asked for some information on the conaught rooms in covent garden and thanks to brianmole and DJ markymark they helped out a great deal.

well the venue has now been changed to the intercontinental hotel 1 hamilton place pall mall london. so boys and girls, has anyone played there before and could give me a few tips. the ballroom holds 700 people seated and is 31m x 29m its a biggie. i am thinking of hireing the speakers. do you think 2.5k would be enough. phoned a couple of places up and one quoated deliver set up & take down 4 srm450 mackies and 4 mackie subs for £250 total or with twin cd mixer and 2 1210s it would be £240 + vat (saves me carrying the gear in my armani tux)

im on the entertainments committee(i think they are expecting me to do it for nothing) at the hospital and i dont think ill get more than £300 out of them cos they have also booked a 12 piece band for £2,500

so its over to you good people for some advice

you are faced wth the same problem as before, a very large room and lots of people.

 

how much sound do you have your self ??? maybe if you team up with another disco you can cover the place without needing to hire at silly prices !

 

I did play this room once or twice and it used to be a pain in the A$$ to get the gear in and out, but im told that things have got better there..

 

If it was me i would be taking 4 x 500watt RMS top cabs and 4 X 500 watt RMS base bins

 

but a 2kw rig in there will do the trick

 

and this is more than enough sound for this room, you dont want to make people deaf.

 

What is the date of the event becuase for £250inc I would be more than happy to bring my JBL rig Decks and CD players up as its for a good cause....

the ball is on friday 1st july from 7-2

as i mostly only do my residency now due to arthritis ive only got a small set up consisting of a pair of active FBTmaxx4s 800w rms a twin cd mixer and a pair of 1210s.

most london hotels are a pain when it comes to unloading as i know from past experiance.

i spoke to eskie earlier and he said he could put me in contact with someone that may be able to give a better quoat. (it saves lugging all the gear around myself)

the committee are going to the hotel to check it out on valentines day as it will be set up for a valentines ball. i cant go cos ive got a gig.
