fordmandj 0
hi all, i have got a behringer eurolight dmx board to controll some dmx lighting effects i have and i cannot get it to work properly. when i plugegd it all up (using a terminator) all that happened was all the lights just went trippy / mad and there was no controll whatsoever over them. just wondered if anyone could point out what i am doing wrong as i am sure that it must be something simple. i have tried the board with just 1 effect at a time, i have tried 3 different types of effect and they all do the same, so i am certain that it is a board setting problem. (all the fixtures are correctly dmx addressed) If anyone could offer advice on this it would be great because i am really struggling, cheers james --------------JAMES-------------- D & J BEATZ ENTERTAINMENT ------ MSN Messenger: fordmandj@hotmail.com ----- ----------- E-mail: d_jbeatz@btinternet.com -----------

DJ Marky Marc 0
If it controls some lights then the desk is working..... I would be looking at my wires and double checking the DMX addresses of all the effect in the chain.. adding one more effect at a time untill you find the week link....... <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
d6184r03 0
but it wont even controle one of the source's, omega's or falcon, we only had one light linked, just to test it, Dave --------------DAVE------------- D&J BEATZ ENTERTAINMENTS davetherave_624@hotmail.com

norty303 0
Check the polarity setting on the desk. If its the wrong way for your lights they'll either default to standalone mode or just twitch about. I had the same problem. d6184r03 0
How do i do this? suppose it will be in the manual me thinks! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/stupid.gif Dave --------------DAVE------------- D&J BEATZ ENTERTAINMENTS davetherave_624@hotmail.com
norty303 0
Just checked the manual and it doesn't have the option actually. I did notice that it's 5 pin DMX as standard. Is yours 3 pin? If so someone may have done a conversion job on it and messed it up with the polarity. If you're using 3 pin to 5 pin converters then check they're right too. d6184r03 0
could have been, but they work the soundlab vista's but not any of the others, like the omega's or the falcon Dave --------------DAVE------------- D&J BEATZ ENTERTAINMENTS davetherave_624@hotmail.com
Gary 0
I think at this point, I'd be getting the multi-tester out now and checking all the DMX cables for pin outs.
fordmandj 0
Hi all, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thanks.gif for all your help with this problem, i have finally cured it, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbup.gif heres what it was, When i borrowed the board of a local s&l shop it came with a 5-pin to 3-pin xlr lead which i presumed was ok, it works with the soundlab vistas we have with it, but nothing else so i presumed that i was doing something wrong. But after garys post about polarity i thought that it maybe was not correct, so i opened up the connectors on the lead and found that pin 2 was linked to 3 and 3 to 2!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/188.gif that was the problem all along. So i got one of my xlr leads and swopped pins 2 and 3 in one end to swap the polarity back to what it shoud be and everything works fine, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/goodjob.gif I havent tried the soundlabs again, but could it be possible that soundlab gear uses different polarity to normal stuff. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif (i happen to know that the guy i borrowed this off uses a lot of soundlab stuff, that explains why it was wrong i guess http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ). Has anyone else come across this problem?? --------------JAMES-------------- D & J BEATZ ENTERTAINMENT ------ MSN Messenger: fordmandj@hotmail.com ----- ----------- E-mail: d_jbeatz@btinternet.com -----------
norty303 0
Yes, I've encountered this with Soundlab and Constella gear which is why I posted about the polarity issue.... glad you got it sorted now ;) DIY plans and pro audio related technical discussions www.speakerplans.com/forum
