brianmole 0
BUMP, and by the way, if you read a recent article saying Deltec are in attendance, this is not the case on this occasion although they will attend in the near future, but, James from Automated S&L will be displaying amongst others some new Abstract lighting products. See you there.

brianmole 0
Well, what a productive evening! We have a new Chairman, new members of the committee, and a lot to look forward to in the next year including some exciting manufacturers and some training workshops. Automated Limited showed us the awesome new range of Abstract DJ Extreme range lighting, some of the new Martin DJ products, some piece of rubbish from China to compare ;-) , and some interesting new LED products amongs other goodies. Many thanks to James for giving us all a really good presentation. It was good to meet derekpen who came a long way from home to meet us, and Dell, hope to see you again soon! So, stop stalling, find out why we are proud members of SEDA and how we can help you start or improve and increase your business. See you at the next meeting in a couple of months, details will be posted on this forum as usual. Cheers, Brian http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

HopDJ 0
QUOTE (ADS Entertainments @ Mar 16 2005, 08:56 AM) What are the advantages of joining SEDA then, because I can't think of one....... What were the advantages of going to the DJU MAX? To meet up and talk to other DJs, view disco equipment...etc Well you get just that at SEDA, only every 2 months, as well as Pro Mobile sent to you as part of the membership fee. There's also the SEDA shop, and lot's of advice on all sorts of things. So far they've helped me address certain things with my rig, in order to improve my standard, something that wasn't able to be done over the internet, but by me having my equipment at the January meeting for everyone to see and pass comment on. Dukesy 0
I think there are some good points made, especially if you feel that you've received a benefit. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif However, ADS is a fair few miles away from the SEDA regular meetings. At least the DJU MAX was a little closer to him. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif
Gary 0
Was the meeting open to non-SEDA's, who might have been interested in joining? Or, just to signed up SEDA members?
John Kidd 0
Hi There are alot of good ideas coming out of this. I think what is needed is a lot more contact between the various different associations, clubs, unions anyone who trys to support the DJ's and the industry. DJs in the north needed to be supported as well as DJs in the south. Dukesy 0
Hi John, a small question. What are your views on free-to-join DJ forums and what they offer to DJs? Regards
ChrisPointon 0
Personally I would like to see more for the Dj's based in the Midlands and the North, and if it means the various individual organisations all becoming one, then perhaps that is a good idea especially if it means that meetings would be held up and down the country and that those in the far north wouldn't need either a very long car journey or a trip to the airport http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif . I appreciate that SEDA is still largely regional and aimed for those perhaps within travelling distance, but if you post on a forum which is used by members all over the UK and beyond then expect to get national views http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif . I am sure given that even the number of DJ's registered to this forum that it still only represents a very small percentage of the total number of DJ's in the UK. Fortunately the internet can move those geographical boundaries closer without people having to sit in traffic on the M6 / M40 in order to attend a meeting which may be 4 hours drive away. Technology moves very fast these days, you mention pro-mobile which of course serves a useful purpose, but one edition every 2 months in 2005 cannot really address the speed in which changes do occur in this industry, back in 1990 perhaps. For example, if a law was introduced today which required ALL dj's to legally register with PPL and it was announced inbetween issues of the various magazines, then people may have been caught out before it goes to press. Breaking News today then rapidly becomes tomorrows chip wrappers but in 60 days how important will it be then?. This is why I believe it is important for organisations such as SEDA to embrace the internet and work closely with forums like this one, where news, opinions and suggestions can be relayed extremely quickly. I hope that you will continue to stick around John, and actively view Dj's helping and advising other Dj's because it happens here on a daily basis, and that is where I believe that we are all united in one common goal. Exactly! The seda website is *AHEM* terrible at this time, this is one thing I will be changing with the help of all. SEDA has a lot of good news to convey, and a lot to learn. I personally see co-operation between other related organisations as key to each ones' success. I also feel that some DJs have not embraced the internet, and SEDA meetings help them also to 'learn & improve' QUOTE What are the advantages of joining SEDA then, because I can't think of one....... ADS, you are such a cynic! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif You mean to say you've never enjoyed trading stories with other DJs over a Guiness or 3? Mind you it is a fair distance for you to come. SEDA is not really in my catchement area as it takes over an hour for me to get to Maidstone, but I have made some really good friends there and I really value what we talk about when we meet, as I value everyones discussions on DJU. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/grouphug.gif
John Kidd 0
QUOTE (discodirect @ Mar 16 2005, 12:34 PM) Hi John, a small question. What are your views on free-to-join DJ forums and what they offer to DJs? Regards DJ Forums are as I am finding are great and a very valuable part of the joining in the whole dj community. Following this i will be pushing this forum at the seda meetings in the future. This said, I feel that the art of converstaion face to face, to look at a bit in equipment, or someones whole disco, a talk and demo by a manufacture, listening to speakers and such like, equally at important. The Associations have suffered but i think it is clear that Djs still want them to be around. Also the best bit of the forum and one thing that any association meeting could never match is that it is there 24 hours a day.
