Buoyed by Wolfman's sensational success at quitting smoking...I have decided it is time for me to adopt a similar attitude to weight loss.

In 1995 I was the fittest I'd ever been - cycled to and from work every day, went to the gym five days a week, played 5-a-side football three times each week and watched what I ate. I weighed about 15 stone and had a 34 inch waistline. I was 6'4" and very fit.

In November of that year I had a serious heart problem (I'm fine now!) which stopped me doing any excercise for a few months. I never got back into training again. Within a year I had changed my job, within two I had got married and moved 60 miles away, although I continued to travel the 120 mile round-trip to work each day. I then lost my mum at the turn of the Millennium but upon arrival at the Peraly Gates she kicked the stork and he bestowed two more kids on us!

Long story short - I hit 20 stone last week. I wear size 42 trousers - and they're tight. I'm so unfit I get out of breath climbing stairs, it's getting more and more difficult to put my socks on and get in and out of cars. I am astonished with myself and completely ashamed, that I have let myself go to such an extent.

So. Time to start eating properly and join a gym again.

Going public on this forum means you guys will be encouraging/pressuring me, in a nice way, to keep my health-kick up. After all, I'm not going on a diet, I'm changing my life style.

I'm slightly different to most of you as I don't drink or smoke; my weight is caused entirely by eating far too much.

I plan to start Monday.

I'm sure you all wish me luck, but would any of you care to join with me on this life-changing event?

Thanks

Big (soon to become not-so-big) Ben.

Good luck young man!.... For me I can only encourage you to get yourself back up the gym...... I go 6 or seven times a week for a couple of hours and the weight has simply dropped off....... Combine the exercise with "sensible" eating and there is definately no need for fancy diets! You probably know this already, but when you go to the gym, its fun for the first couple of days... then you get a bit fed up... but carry on... cos after a couple of weeks you will be feeling like you HAVE to go because you WANT to!!

You can do it... and soon we will change your name to Little Ben!! xx

WE LOVE KAREN, AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE HER BACK !!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Losing weight is easy. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif

I lost two and a half stone in 6 weeks simply by not eating. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif Lived on water and orange juice as eating was causing me so much pain.

Still suffering now but hopefully they'll find out what it is soon. (camera job on Monday http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif ).

Good luck with the fitness Richard, look forward to seeing the new you http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

Yes, water is a key part of the formula but always seek advice before taking a regime diet (due to medical history) such as Atkins / Low Carb intake and combined exercise. Losing weight is ok, it's keeping it off! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif

Good Luck

You know when your an adult - you stop growing at the ends and grow in the middle.

Perhaps we should a forum slimming contest, I need to lose between 1.5 and 2 stone

Good on you,

I lost 2 and half stone not so long ago and I'm still going, its getting harder to do now. You really have to want to loose weight and you have a good incentive. My was to be on stage in a red belly dancing costume. ( I do amature drama as well) There was just too much belly so I did something about it, then the costume was changed so nothing was revealed in the end but it did the trick.

Go for it you will enjoy the results

Top man Ben!

Good luck with the weight loss. Our lifestyles are a real challenge to healthy living alot of the time, I'm certainly one that could do with losing some weight. Will have a think about how I can do something to join in with your effort. Will certainly be looking forward to hearing the progress, and encouraging you through the whole

venture.

Once again good luck, and be encouraged to think that you're probably making a few of us think about our own situations.
