Last night (Friday) I had a middle school disco.

I dont normally do school disco's but this is the exception as its for a friend.

Last year I got caught out as the little buggers were into Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Nirvana;so this year I made sure I bought two of the albums.

When I played one of the tracks I couldn't understand why they didnt seem particularly interested, this time they were more interested in 50 Cents,J-Lo and Eminem.

At the end of the night I mentioned this to my friend and she informed me that last years kids had left the school and this was a new lot.Duh!!

These youngsters are really strange- two young lads actually had their ears pressed up against my base bin;its a good job its only a small LEM.

The volume is always high and you are up on the stage(which is out of bounds to them) and they keep shouting out requests(I already had a playlist, of sorts).Being a little bit,no,a fair bit deaf.NO CHANCE.I just hope I say yes in the right places.

Bearing in mind they are only about 10/11 years old all they really wanted to do was dance to slow tracks. I'm sure I wasnt like that when I was that age, mind you we weren't lucky enough to have disco's then. You were rich if you had a tele!!!

This is not a rehearsal

This is it - grab it while you can.

Hi

Trev, never assume you know what kids are gonna like...

I was filling in for a DJ at an under 16's club before Xmas, the stuff that packed the floor most was 80's cheese and the real rubbish from the charts, plus a bit of DJ Otsi etc.

Kaz, School uniform? I can't believe no one has picked up on this and offered to help!

Tonight, Wedding at Wittlebury hall, dead posh, full black tie afair!

tomorrow, packing for hols at Centerparks, I need the break!

Will probably spend most of the bloody time writing stuff for the websites, lol.

last night was a twin brother and sisters joint 21st birthday party

the brother phoned me last week asking could he play a 1 hour set of hip hop and house and because it was his birthday i agreed.

i was set up ready with my twin cd player and 2 technics 1210s. the brother then turns up with his twin denon set up so in all we had 4 cd players,2 mixers and 2 decks set up.

first hour background music and then he takes over for an hour. well the hip hop turned into R&b and chart which i normaly play to get them dancing. so after his set on went the cheese and 60s and motown and they loved it.

all in all it was a very good night

IF IT MOVES, FUNK IT.

Friday - Another 13th birthday for me, went absolutely smashing, loads of tunes. The place nearly errupted for the last few songs (before the slower stuff that is)

It was really good fun....and I pulled off a few mixes....which for me were pretty sharp (if you don't mind me saying)

The dance tunage really seems to be catching on here! I mean 666 - devil went down a storm...

GOt a 10 quid tip which was great. Man there is no way I'm gonna swap the lucas it was great. Amps running full open boy it sounded superb.

We started at 7.30 and got out at 10.30. Setup and down in 30 minutes so that was good.

Saturday was a Disco for Spanish Exchange Students and their English host families. We should have been booked 7.30 - 11.30 but some bright spark had forgot that they flew back home from Manchester Airport the next day at 6.30 and so had to be up at about 4.30AM to get there http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif . Needless to say they had all gone back to pack by 10.00 and so we finished for 10.15

We gave out about 1500 Glowsticks and sold 1000 more http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif to take home with them. Must be a big demand for Glowsticks in Spain!.

Sat night arrive at venue at 9.45 ready for a 10.45 start (after show party for thespians - yes thespians not what you're thinking). The venue had http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif up and forgot all about it (until I turned up). The room had already been laid out for Sunday lunch and all the extra staff sent home.

However 1 hour later the room had been re-arranged by just one member of staff, another had been called back and we were ready to go. Unfortunately they couldn't prepare food for them but a quick call to the local pizza parlour and 50 pizzas were on there way.

A great night and I don't think most of the guests were aware how close the night had come to being a non-starter and well done to the staff for converting a http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif up (not their fault) into a success http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
