Danno13 0
Yeah.. your on the right lines there. There's a lot of it around at the moment stuff like, Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme Eric Prydz - Call On Me Arman Van Helden - My My My Cabin Crew - Waiting for a star to fall C sixty four - on a good thing mohito - slip away ethan - in my heart black rock - blue water I'd imagine thats the kind of thing they'd be after.. some of that is quite poppy so if they are strict on their definition of funky house then they might not like it. Try taking a look at some of the Hed Kandi Cds for more ideas. For classic funky house... David Moralas - Needin you Modjo - Lady Phats & Small - Turn Around Theres loads more stuff but can't really think at the moment. DJ Marky Marc 0
ads you are right they are 70's disco, but take a listen to house music and you find they sample 70's and 80's tunes all the time..... so if i sneak a couple of classics in no one says anything they just dance more.....

Dj_Kray 0
Wow its good to see we have a few funky house fans on here most of the good tunes have been metioned. but here are a few more BLAZE FEAT. BARNARA TUCKER Most Precious Love BODY ROCKERS I Like The Way (def top 5 hit IMO) MARTIN SOLVEIG Everybody AUDIO BULLYS Bang Bang (sample from the kill bill film) GADJO So Many Times (I know it's been metioned before but i really think this tune will be 1 of the top dance tunes of the summer this years call on me, even though its been knoking around for a few years) TECHNOTRONIC 'Pump Up The Jam'(Its had a great new revamp has been voted 1 on the radio1 miami buzz chart)
brianmole 0
AHA! That Technotronic track is MAGIC! The reactions to it we saw were amazing. Gadjo was one of my favourite track of last summer, and it did go down well at weddings... From my Miami report which I am still editing (pics of Gadjo, Bodyrockers, etc...) on my website: WMC2005 Big Tunes: Blaze ft Barbara Tucker - Precious Love (Defected) - Barbara has been in the industry for 20 years, and this is proof that she can sing a top tune. Roman Flugel - Geht's Noch? (Skint) - Strange house track which sets the danceloor on fire - has an annoying riff which gets right under your skin, you will not be able to get this one out of your head for days. D.O.N.S. ft Technotronic - Pump Up The Jam (Kurd Maverick Remix) (White Label) - This is THE biggie from Miami, it will not need any hype at all to succeed, you will hear this at home and all over the Balearics this summer. A great rework of a familiar classic by Giani Yes vs Max Graham - Owner of a lonely heart (Data) - Instantly recognisable house track sampling Yes, set to cross over in th mainstream and become a big chart hit. Bodyrockers - I like the way (Mercury/Manifesto) - Always guarantees a big reaction on any dancefloor, infectious lyrics, will have made a high chart entry by the time this is printed Audio Bootys - Bang Bang (White) - Sounds great on a BIG sound system Inya Day - Nasty Girl (AATW) - Another quality house tune with catchy lyrics Chab ft JD Davis - Closer to me (Azuli) - Another superb release from Azuli Haji & Emmanuel - Weekend (ATFC) - Great house track based on 80s hit by Class Action, set the dancefloor on fire! Dave80s 0
(slightly off topic) Brian, when you go to Miami, do you treat it as a business trip or holiday?
brianmole 0
QUOTE (slightly off topic) Brian, when you go to Miami, do you treat it as a business trip or holiday? Well it is one big party, but I come back with a little training (this time on Reason3, last year on remixing), I get the chance to network with A&R managers like the guys at Data records, Defected, Kinky Malinky, Hed Kandi, etc...The benefit there apart from getting on their promo lists, is they start to recognise your face, and if you want to be part of an industry, you have to appear in it and mingle/network. Whilst I was out there, I met and chatted with a lot of industry types, DJs and artistes such as Dan Tait, James Zabelia, Pete Gooding, Barbara Tucker, Gadjo, Simon Dunmore (Defected a&r), Damian Wilson, David Dollimore (Data a&r), Paul Crane (KinkyMalinky), Paul Trouble Anderson, Mark Doyle (Hed Kandi), etc... The other thing is because I don't get much of a chance to go clubbing often because I am doing discos or it would trash the family weekend, this is a great opportunity to see what the tastemaker DJs are playing, and how they are mixing. Add to this, the fact that there are technical exhibits where you can get your hands on and test stuff... and of course, you get handed quite a few promos. So, it is a business expense which I can offset against profits. I just put through the flights and accomodation and conference reg fees, food and drinks I don't as this would be taking the p. Electrofreek 0
think there is a fine line inbetween some of the stuff that some people consider dance..some people consider house.....meaning the tracks like....drop the pressure....love generation....my my my....but at the end of the day everyone has thier own idea.....as marky marc said...teh defected label has some good stuff....positva aswell........and as somone said most ''funky'' house is old skool funk/soul tunes sped up a bit with a beat..... cor....house music....gotta love it http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif jules I CAN SLEEP WHEN IM DEAD
