Phono to XLR leads please

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of renewing all my leads, something I do now and again, and am after the following if any of the suppliers on here can help

2 x phono to XLR lead 0.5m will do

8 way Phono to Phono snake, or separate phono to phono leads but colour coded

XLR to XLR lead 0.5m will do

3.5mm to phono lead 1m

Then if I still get a buzz from my active speakers, maybe a Behringer DI Box

Many thanks

Andy

.....but what do I know ?

What were the Phono to XLR leads for Andy? its an strange combination as the typical signal level going through phono is ~775mv, whereas XLR's are typically ~1000mv (1volt) or 1100mv approx. Do the two bits of gear which these leads would normally connect, offer any matching sockets eg: Phono to phono or XLR to XLR etc.

Also, is the xlr-xlr lead for audio or DMX use?

Phono to XLR are OK impendence wise, they are to go from mixer out to speaker in, used them for the last five years with no trouble. XLR to XLR will be audio.

Failing this I could get a DI box and route it through that.

Best thing i ever did was make all of my leads xlr-xlr. I now have adaptors and botch leads to terminate in any funny combinations. This way i only need to make up leads of the required lengths and i can terminate how i want. It also means i'm never without that rare combination that you may only have a need for once a year (and i can make it 30m long if i need to)

Or try Canford Audio http://www.canford.co.uk/ for cable and separate connectors. The new neutrik screwless XLR connectors are superb. You can fit one in under 2 mins without tools.

Buy direct from Van Damme too for good prices http://www.vdctrading.com/

You can buy them off the shelf at most places, including your local disco shop
