Can we just go with amps and speakers and processing or do we have to do cables and everything for that money?

I think i'd start with

4 Loony Bins @ £675 each = £2700 (but i can get them built to same spec with same drivers for £500 each) = £2000

and a Void Infinite 8 (2 x 2400w @ 4R) to drive them. £1100

Mmmmh... £3100 gone already. Have to think on the tops and processing.

I shall return......

Amps could be the brand new, not yet released, or shown anywhere in the world, offering from Chaos (HZ), 1U in high and able to run 4 speakers. Don't tell anyone else about it yet though http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif

@ ADS Ent - good spot, there's some wicked 1U power amps coming out now, giving massive power to weight ratio (e.g. 2k+ a side @ 4R with less than 10kg weight) but you really pay through the nose for them. With more manufacturers getting onto the technology it's driving the price of switch mode amps right down which can only be good for the consumer. Lot's of old school PA suppliers are moaning about the lack of support, etc but in a buyers market the consumer reigns supreme. I don't think i'd consider buying an amp less than 2 x 750w @ 4R now as they're really just not useable.

You can buy 2.5k of QSC quality for £400 retail now, why bother with anything less.

I'm about to buy a backup Ultradrive 2496 as they're so cheap i can't even get a decent crossover for that money. 1 gig will pay for it.

I'll say it one more time, until you get into the high range with JBL you get rubbish. We used to run the old M355 series in a prominent club in surrey and they were awfull and forever needing maintenance (recones)

I'm factoring in resale value and desirability. People generally don't want KAM and new Citronic but will fall over their own feet for C-Audio, Crown, Camco, QSC, etc

Driver wise, Precision Devices, EV (expensive recones), Beyma, 18 Sound (US), Some cast chassis Eminence, P-Audio will all do the business. Peavey tend to sell to the small gigging band market but lack the real guts when it comes to it.

For a bar type gig I'd go with 2 x Nexo PS15 and a single LS1200 sub (or pair if funds permit) with the recommended Nexo controller. At £1600 a top they're expensive, but you'll never hear better. We run 2000w into each PS15 and they sound absolutley beautiful.

The Radio1 stage is powered by Nexo Alpha rig with Crown amplification iirc

...but i'm still pondring on what i can spend £1900 on for mid/tops......

Can't decide on speakers, maybe Turbosound or Martin Audio or DAS - i'm awkward and indecisive when you get to know me! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif . However I would probably go with Amplification by QSC - I quite like their Powerlight range. £5900 would get you a Powerlight 9.0PFC http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif .

Uncle Andy, can I have £20,000 instead of £5000? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif
