Soundlab Scanner Issues

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Anyone come across this strange soundlab scanner issue before?

4 scanners all hooked up working fine before today.

Scanners 1,2,3 and 4.

All are listening on "dip switch 1" so I can control them from the 36 channel controller.

Now Scanner No.2 shows some weiredness.

If scanner No.1 is connected to No.2 they both work in sync - expected.

However, No.2 is connected to 3 and 4 - they don't sync - nothing happens.

If I disconnect the power (leaving the dmx in/out cables) on No.2 - all 3 scanners work (1,3 and 4) but nothing happens on 2.

If I disconnect the DMX in/out and re-power scanner No.2 it works as fine on its own.

Obviously I want them all syncing together.

There are nothing wrong with the cables - I checked them. I can only get 3 scanners working at most.

Can anybody offer some assistance as the soundlab scanners are so popular by most DJ's on this forum. If not, does anyone a have a tech support number for soundlabs?

Thanks for your assistance.

Josh

Have you tried moving the position of No.2 scanner so it's at the end of the chain or at the start. Does it only effect any light downstream from the No.2 scanner?

Might well be that the DMX out from scanner 2 is faulty.

I couldn't get them changed, as you guys suggested. I was hoping to make scanner no2 > no4 so the dmx out does not get used but couldn;t get them working (none would go on) I will try again.

even some more strangeness. If I set the scanner No.1 to run it's own program (i.e turn off dmx slave i think dip switch 11) all 4 scanners start working fine and the controller is then useless.

I have another same controller which I will try and let you folks know.

thanks

Not sure if you've tried this but have you reset all dip switches to off and then switch on switch 1 on all of them (I'm assuming that their channels run 1-4 not 0-3) and leave every other option off for the time being.

Ok, I got this working.

Basically it was a combination of a knackered controller and slightly damaged dmx cabling which I found.

I did call Soundlabs and they gave me the same advice as you guys.

Here are their contact details anyway.
