2 enquiries, what would you say?

Recommended Posts

Let's try another little dilemma; I am in the process of quoting for a gig all by email. I have quoted a price, the customer has come back and asked a further question which I answered a day ago.

My agent who books me for 60 - 70% of my work calls asking if I can do a gig at a place I love on the same date. I explain the situation, will get back to him in an hour or so...

What would you do?

i would go with the agent if its a place you love ect and its a gauranteed booking, unless the client had said in there e-mail they were away for a couple of days but barring this if they want you i would of thought 24 hours is ample time to get back in touch unless there waiting for a couple more quotes.

I would be honest http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I would contact the first customer and say that you have been approached by another party to DJ elsewhere on the date that they require and ask them to confirm wether or not they want to go ahead and book you.

Tell them that the other enquiry is a confirmed booking and you need to let them know before the end of today, therefore if they really want you they will have to tell you now.

1st come, first served and all that. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I would agree with StevJam - be honest and tell them the situation. Are you able to contact them by phone?

If not, you may just have to email them asking them to get back to you one way or the other by the close of play today - in a very diplomatic way of course.

Cheers,

Jack.

Agree with jacku and stevjam, be honest, email the first one if they're not available by phone and give them a time to respond or they lose the booking.

My T&C's state that a booking is not confirmed until a completed booking form and deposit is received.

Of course, you could still be let down. They could say yes we want you, it is a definite booking and then still change their mind after you have turned the agent down.

I would not feel right or professional if I wasn't honest with the customer, even if if meant losing a definite booking.

QUOTE (brianmole @ May 3 2005, 02:26 PM)
Exactly, I sent an email to no1 (have no tel no), still no response, accepted booking from agent, if no1 comes back, I will offer to the forum!

Just what I would have done, we all have enquiries that don't get back to us. Occasionally the time taken on getting comparissons is gonna mean they miss out.

Well done Brian

First one back to me with my signed entertainment agreement and a deposit books the event. End of story.
