which mixer ???

Hi

 

Looking to but one mixer for running disco & Karaoke through and both at some gigs.

At present have one mixer for discos and another for karaoke which i patch into disco mixer but it is not the best set up as have only got 2 arms LOL !!!

ie output of karaoke mixer through disco mixer (using one the spare channel)

Karaoke mixer has enough space for 4 mics all with usual karaoke effects.

 

Looking for 19" rack mountable mixer if possible to sit in flght case with cd players just have karaoke player in seperate flight case.

 

Any one got any suggestions ?? How many penny's I need to save to buy a mixer that will do the job ??

At the risk of going WAAAAY over the top i could heartily recommend the A&H xone 464. It's a DJ desk but has quality 4 band EQ for the vocals and plenty of channels.

Take a look at the UB Euroracks, starts at 2 channel, right up to 24 channel, which is the one I have just brought, you can read a review of it HERE

 

A&H are great if you have a spare couple of grand

Actually the 464 is under a grand which i think is VERY good value for money when you compare it to lesser mixers like the Pioneers (and i own a DJM600!)

Agree, A&H 464 is excellent but big. You should be able to get some good deals on one of those, they have been around for a good while. I also have a DJM600!

A&H 464 yeah looks nice but bit to pricey and too many knobs for my liking.

Recently added karaoke to list so just want something resonable priced that will do the job.

Did look at KAM (karaoke mixer ) £199 price which look like it would do the job.

Also going to keep eyes open on ebay as not wanting to spends loads as will be years before I make any money back from karaoke if I go OTT at start.

I know you pay for what you get but there must be some alternatives to going to the extreme !!!!

I didnt think the 464 was over the top as both disco and karaoke mixer...

 

how about a rack mount mic mixer say 1 u high piped into a single line level channel on your disco mixer and then your CDG's can be on other chanels and you can use any 4+ chanel mixer and have your mic seperate from the singers mics.....

Guys, i think the Allen & Heath is a bit out of dan's price range here and it certainly is over the top for what he wants!!!

 

How about the Citronic 10:4?? It has 3 mic channels all with EQ i think as well as your normal line inputs..

Wouldnt change my Pioneer mixer for anything. And Ive used pretty much every mixer going including A&H.

Great ergonomics on the DJM, don't know many DJ's who don't really enjoy using them, but the metering is just a joke. Why produce a mixer that doesn't actually tell you REALLY what you're outputting.....

HI the cirtronic is more in the price range i was looking at.

Comparing at the mo three mixers these are :-

 

Numark CM200FX - £180 approx

 

KAM AUDIO PRO 1500 - £200 approx

 

Citronic 10:4 - £240 approx

 

 

Any preferances guys ???

 

Have KAM MIXER & CD PLAYERS ALREADY SO THINKING OF STICKING WITH THAT BUT ANYBODY KNOW ANY BIG REASONS TO AVOID THE pro1500.

Behringer 24 channel mixer would cost you about £180ish, never run out of channels either, can keep adding mics etc, you and play with one,

Hi Dan - I have the Numark CM200 without the FX - have used it for

Karaoke and for disco for 18 months or so. It does what it says on

the lid. No problems and very reliable also the build quality is great.

 

The only issue to be aware of is that the full gain (0db) is achieved

around the 80% level on the faders so you need

to be conservatove with the levels - this is marked pretty well on the

mixer so should not be a problem. I found this out the hard way but once

you know it's not a problem.

Apart from about £50 !!!

 

Behringer 24 channel mixer does seem good for price but was hoping for slimmer version of mixer to fit in flight case already got instead of having to but another flight case.

You can get cheaper flightcases that are not 'Touring' grade for applications where they're not going to get used 7 days a week in a demanding environment. Have a look on the Terralec website (now re-done and much nicer to use actually) for some better deals. I've found that flight cases are one of those items that tend to retain a good amount of resale value - probably more than the kit inside them so look upon it as a good investment. Look on ebay too, they have a whole section for them and once they hit 2nd hand value they tend to stay at that price

I brought 6 flightcases from Terralec, all 6U and each one was under £100, sold them last week for £60 each

I havent had any problems other than the level issues mentioned above.

 

The way I set it up is to run two mikes into the RSQ SV22 player

that provides the effects and then run the output from this into the mixer.

I tend to use radio mics for this and keep the player within reach in case

I need to work on the levels/effects.

 

The mixer provides 3 dedicated Mic inputs. I use one of those for myself

and another as a spare. I've never had any problems with about 6

or 7 different types of mics. Dead simple really.

 

I'm not sure what else to add. I dont use it for Karaoke very often but

when I have it's worked well with no problems.
