Hello still finding my feet as anewcomer! Just bought pair of SRM450's great sound used em 4 the first time last nt. I had them coupled to a single DAP sub 15" 300watt and it was great, but the dap powered sub is part of the other speaker system i first bought 6 months ago...300watt sub and 2x mid/tops. Decided to sell the Dap system shortly, and use the money to buy a decent sub but not too heavy! Any suggestions? Lookin 4 single powered sud, this will do most if not all my venues. Thanks lads look forward to chattin

Hi there I too use Mackie SRM450's , I have 2 Mackie SW1501 Bins and the addition of these to my system has made me completely content with my rig. These are brilliant and of course are designed perfectly to match the SRM450's.To be honest I very rarely use the pair of them normally just one as they are easily configured to do this. They sound superb. They don't even get warm when driven hard. They are heavy at 40KGS and buy covers for them as they are easily marked. I live in N Ireland and was being quoted £900 for one bin over here , I got them delivered from Eddie Moores in Bournemouth for about £600 each.

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Cheers woody!! started with a dap audio soundmate 600watt sys...its been great to be honest, but you know what its like, you get the urge to buy sometimes...so i bought a pair of mackies 2 weeks ago, really impressed, i used them with the sub from the soundmate system and it really was good, but i need to sell the soundmate system so i can buy the mackie sub. Think i will just go for one at the moment as my gigs are small/medium and part time! Noticed on the mackie sub..it has straight through connections or mid/top through connections....which would you use? Im thinking if you run the two mackies straight through you will get mackie bass and the sub bass too...But if i run the mackies on the mid/top through connections... the bass will only come from the sub. Am i right? Think i will run the mackies full range and the sub as im only getting one for now.

Also (sorry to mider) Ive got a sub output on my beringer vmx1000 mixer, would you run the mackie sub seperate on this output and the mackies on the main outs?...its got a controller pot on the back of the mixer to limit or increase the sub bass

thanks for advice jeff

As far as I'm concerned the built in X-Over in the Mackie sub does the job fine and that the system is designed to be set up in the way Mackie describe on their website. Basically left and right output from your mixer into the left and right full range input on one sub and then the signal to the tops are taken from the Mid/Hi pass output on the sub again left and right. Believe me you will not need to be asking your tops to produce extra bass with this system.
