Black cloth. Cheap and effective.

And what's wrong with light screens - they're classic disco!

I use both ( Not at the same time)

Light boxes seemed to die out at one stage, BUT i have had LOADS of requests from customers not wanting one of those ' Twinkly Cloths ' but a proper lightbox front. (these are customers words not mine)

Personally i prefer light boxes and there seems to be a bit of a revival at the moment, Some of the starcloths i have seen look absolute Cr&p ! :hurt:

Hi guys!

I normally use a white sheet as the UV picks it out quite well or on occasions a Black sheet my two light boxes which incidently where the first thing i brought all those years ago come out for maybe two gigs a year, i just cant bring myself to get rid!

Im currently in the market for Starcloth and i found a DJ booth for around £500.00, looks nice yes but a bit pricy, HTFR have just started doing a budget one DJ BOOTH not a bad price and from pic looks like it will do the job.

Or for just starcloth STARCLOTH

I dont own any of these items but if your on a budget im sure you cant go far wrong.

I thought that was an immensely high speaker stack on the right, until I realised it was a doorway :D :aa :ads:

Going under the name Sgt Pepper I've had a 4 x 3 perspex screen made with the album cover on. I light it up from behind and it looks like a stained glass window. Attracts loads of attention, even when I'm just carrying it in!

Hey!!!!!

Must just be me.My business started taking off when I stopped hiding behind a desk or lights.I have my gear stacked up to the right of me and I lean over as a cabaret artist would and plonk the trax on from there. The audience can see me full length and altough I am on a stage I effectively become one of them.I have had people say it makes me really different and attribute some of my success to it.

I too am in the market for a Starcloth but as a huge stage filling background.

It may be time for change for some of you crotchety old DJSs.

I like hiding behind my 'wall', thankyou. :D

I respect your open-fronted approach, and there is at least one other very experienced member here who does the same; However, I feel there are events and venues where this just wouldn't look right, whatever 'right' may be... smile icon

Agree Andy

I do both, and it looks very odd on a large stage not having screens or a alrge star cloth in front of you.

I like the screen james, very good. I see you have a good old soundlab Valera, powerfull light.

Since I upgraded mine last year, I,ve had a lot of other DJ's enquire about my screens, who don't usually

bother.

My front screen I painted myself. It used to be black with just my name and number on it but it was just looking too plain, so I decided to paint it up a few weeks ago when I had no discos on.

Some one here said a while ago that they made a front screen with a rope light on

If your out there and could post a photo that would be great :thanks:

I use the same "Wayne Specials" as you can see from my avatar.

I like them a lot, with the spot boxes either side they give a nice frontage in my oppinion.

Gigged them a few times now, and have had some good comments about them?

Does anyone want me to post a video of them working, I still have a short clip on my laptop?

Nick

I use a black cloth supported by fishing wire tied between the lighting rig's stantions. I have added small stars (130) onto the front of the sheet. I use a white sheet with stars for weddings and christinings. :dan+ju:

I use a simple black cloth that hides everything,

And gives me somewhere to hide when munching on there buffet!

Years back i had light screens but when i downsized in transport it was an issue so i gave them to a youth club for free, they still use them now....

I know its digging up an old post.

I use screens at the moment but have been making a starcloth, it has 240 blue LEDs and I've built an 8 channel light unit to supply it.

I'll post picture of it (or the fire) when itrs finished.

Jim
