I use an old projector screen hooked under the home made front panel, which has 4 channel

STL unit built in (down lights on the reflective screen). Looks effective plus 2 UV bulbs for

quiet times for a nice glow!

Also 2 light screens either side powered of the same STL unit(Bulgin) dating from 1989!

I've restored/rewired/re-sectioned them but in the process of replacing the perspex

fronts with clear sheets and refractive film (WIGRTI)

thats intresting but i think that light boxs are a thing of the past now.

i tend to use a black sheet for most venuse and a starcloth for larger and beter paid venuse.

the projector screen sounds fun but a litel hard work to maintain and set up ect. i do like it tho.

regards jayboy.

In your mind, maybe.

I've had recent bookings on account of my still using them - make of that what you will.

This 'two projector stands and a starcloth' setup is being seen as the cheap and easy option, according to one client I spoke to last week; He in particular wanted a disco with light boxes at the front, as he felt (correctly in my view) it would look better in the venue he'd chosen.

Apparently he had some trouble finding such a disco.

perhaps andy we should be increasing our prices because we have lightboxes and offer something different to the average roadshow then.sounds like full circle to me :bouncy:

Rubbish. Good quality lightboxes still have their place. I have DJ'd for 26 years now and have used both options. Clients still want light boxes at the appropriate function. That does not mean I use them at every function, but the option is there. I like them. In fact I have had 3 bookings this year, when the client has asked for light boxes.

Come on Robin - are you sure?

Was it not more that they asked for some lights and would you be carrying them in in boxes?

Nah, can't do that. If we had light boxes and were good DJs, that might be a different matter.

"Bottom feeders R Us". :D
