Not so long ago I was pushed (mainly by my self) into getting an allen and heath 464.

So after takig it out on its second gig this weekend im here to tell you a little about it.

lets start with the size of this thing.

http://www.disco-man.co.uk/images/IMAGE_00023.jpg

yes it huge.

but nice feature is that there is a built in stand for useage on a table outside a mixer case if you wish to do so or this part of the mixer can be folded flat for putting into a case.

we shall work from left to right..... 4 mono mic channels with 100mm faders. top quailty and loads of control with the EQ and boost for diferent types of input.

Any one supporting a band or needing to wire more than one radio or wired mics will love this mixer.

these 4 channels do support other types of input....

6 dual stereo channels to allow upto 12 stereo inputs. 4 of them turntables.

every channel has 4 band EQ

additional input for send and return loops

Voltage controlled fillters on the cross fade for creative mixing..

dual main outputs and monitor output....

basicly this mixer does it all plus loads more.

sound quality is first class, the layout is clear and easy of use for basic mixing is just like any other mixer.

split cue in the headphones for discos where a monitor speaker cant be used and a very powerfull headphone stage so you can drown out the rest of the venue and be in your own personl night club

Power supply is internal so no need for extra boxes just plug an IEC lead and press the on switch located on the rear of the mixer.

there is also a second headphone jack on the rear of the system...

Basicly its going to take me weeks to get used to all the things this mixer can do, but if you want the best all round mixer for mobile/club install and can deal with its size then you should put the 464 on your short list...

9/10 for Allen and heath

Good looking, the only thing I didn't like about the A&H was that the inputs are on the rear and not easily accessible to plug in extra mics/inputs etc

.....but what do I know ?

Those CD controls look an awful looooooooong way away....your poor arms...

What are the dimensions of the mixer? It looks 19inch wide, so I'm guessing its about 22inches deep, meaning the CD-controls are about 2feet away from you.

A&H could do with bringing out a 19inch landscape mixer for under £1000. Yes, I know they had the V6, but that was silly money ('bout £2000) and looked like one of those radio sets that "someone went back for" in a 1960's desert island movie. So that doesnt count.

easy to get too in this case for all connections...

its not so far away for CD controls but dont forget im also using S5000's and turntables with it more than the 1800F.....

This mixer is the biz!! Its about the same size as the one I use (an old 3G club mixer), but this is the one I am going to buy next.

I hope to get mine about September, fingers ( and everything else) crossed.

mixer case i lift on my own no problems , its just big so sometimes it better to have someone grab the other side...

it spends most of its life sat on top of a 12U amp rack case that has wheels. so it gets pushed into most venues......

So the New Xone 3D mixer with built-in USB soundcards didn't appeal then?

$2000 in its standard camoflauge green colour (a big mistake in that price bracket), presumably, any more sensible colours will cost more. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif
