Disco on a boat near Reading

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I have no details yet, but have been asked if I can do a disco on some kind of boat on the Thames at Reading. Anyone done one recently?

Last time I did one it was about 15 years ago and it was a 12 volt deck, I just had to turn up with records - it was awful. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fish.gif

Yes they are a nightmare....

no space to move....

A couple of S5000's and a 2 channel mixer would be perfect....

oh and mind your head......

Thats cheating.... use 1 x DN-S5000 and a mixer http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif

Find out what their power supply is. If required, I've got an inverter that you can borrow free which converts 12volt cigarlighter power to 240volt mains socket. Good for items up to 250watts max.

If they've got mains 240v then thats even better, but dont expect there to be any spare space at all.

I think 2 square feet comes to mind. And don't use lighting with Red or Green, as these are navigation colours, and could cause some confusion.

Is this out of Caversham?? They run two boats, if your on the first, you go up the gang plank, on to boat two, around the outside, then hop over to boat one.

Don't forget to take your water wings (lol)

..playing all the hits for you...

....whether you may be....

Why can't I see what i going on???

If it was caversham, then it was probraby Salters boats (based in oxford) but i believe all there boats now have 240v mains supplies, however, there is a inverter on some of them which is only 750W - i know cos i have had many problems with there supplies in the past...

When i was doing their contract, i used to play from Marlow, Oxford, Abingdon, Caversham, Maidenhead and Slough. so i bought an old 12v realistic ( http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif ) mixer and used to Technics CD walkmans with anti-skip! - Height of technology eh?

then used a 200w car amp to power the speakers! worked well and paid for its self within 4 discos http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

Too many don'ts though...

No music in locks,

No Alchohol for staff,

No occasional free drinks,

No lighting,

No swimming...

Pain really! Used to be a good laugh though...

The only UK number 1 record to contain in its lyrics the title of the song which knocked it off number 1 was... Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (lyric: "Mamma Mia")!

I did an engagment on lake Windermere a couple of years ago. The main problem was again the space. It also was quite a windy evening and the boat was rocking a tad.

To be honest Bri I didn`t really enjoy it. But money does talk. Put a silly bid in for it and if you get it your quids in....

No, not interested in getting the gear on and off a tub, squeezeing into very tight spaces, 1.5 hour round trip each way, unknown electrical supply on my valuable CDJ1000s, mixer, and amp for the £200 on offer. Plus I wonder what the pli implications are.

They can use the regular DJ, that's fine by me.
