Here we go:

Really chuffed I fixed my old Beyer M260N mic this week. It has a loose plastic thing inside after a meeting with the floor in a club a few months ago. Since I dropped it, I have been using a new Shure SM58, but it is nowhere near as good in terms of sound clarity as my trusty old Beyer M260N which curiously is a ribbon mic. See pics below.

Thursday: Medieval ball in Hartfield - this was a corporate entertainment gig for about 100 city 20-30 year olds. They had been doing 'team building' stuff all day, followed by a medieval banquet complete with musician and entertainer, culminating in a disco from yours truly. Went very well, full dancefloor from 11pm to 1am, played a bit of cheese, plenty of dance, urban, and old school dance http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/cool.gif

Saturday: wedding for 160 in a lovely barn in deepest West Sussex near Goodwood. A glorious evening meant everybody was enjoying chatting outside when I set up, so I started with my Ambient chillout CD as background, this had a few people on the dancefloor doing slow dancing http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif .

Anyway, we hit the first dance - 20th century boy - T Rex, and the floor was on fire and full from 10 to midnight with extracts from this list. Surprise request for the evening: Central Line - Walking on sunshine http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif

Pictures for Saturday:

Again, fairly minimal on lighting: Goalpost stand carrying 2 x Constella ProTwin 250, 4 x Par56, and my LED starcloth-type lightbox. Sound system: 4 x MacGregor 500W RMS enclosures, so a true 2KW sound system. Note the fan on the table behind the disco. This is brilliant for cooling me as I am DJing.

SAturday night had a wedding in my residency....

Same as most, gloriously hot day with sunning pelting down on a marquee all day so when I started, everyone sitting in the grounds.....

VERY hot night in the "tent" and had the shock of realising that the requested first dance didnt work (had a slight scratch on the CD which kept it skipping in the players! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif ) A call to DJTrev and a new unscratched copy was brought to me (Thanks mate!!) and the smooching got under way....

An alright night, that would've been better if it hadnt been so hot and if the sound limiter was not set really low.....

Friday - Wedding in one of the hotels I cover. Really funny 'incident', a chap was filming and pointed the camcorder at me at which point I make a joke about hoping he doesnt work for the Inland Revenue http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif anyways a lady came storming up to me and says 'I work for the Inland Revenue - whats wrong with that ?' - she then turns to my roadie and goes 'its Paul isnt it ?' and storms off without giving either of us chance to answer. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/hiding.gif was a fairly average night really the dancefloor was never empty the B&G got married abroad the previous week so it was just the evening do, bit of a weird atmosphere for some reason.

Sat was a cracking night 21st birthday only prob was the room was so hot i nearly passed out we couldnt open the firedoor either as the 'old bloke' that lives down the road complains about the music.

Gotta really busy one this weekend coming http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif

On Sat night I asked for Charlie, the best man, to come onto the stage - a few moments later a lady dressed in a tux came up and says 'I'm Charlie what do you want'. Stumped me for a few seconds http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Saturday, Wedding reception at the Ball Room in Buckingham. Was told I could have access by 7.30 for an 8.30 start. Arrived 7.30, to be told by th manager (really helpful bloke) that they had just sat down for the breakfast! By 8.45 we had access. The ball room is on the 4th floor with a service elevator from a service road on the ground. The only thing no-one told me was this road was a "path". With the wing mirrors folded it the MPV with about 1inch clearance just cleared the narrowest point! Set up quick time, by 9.20 we were ready. With the first two songs queued, no B or G!! Eventually they were found and off we went!

Excellent room, big and air conditioned! With a few data moons/ scanners the manager kindly switched on. They had one of those large exploding ballons that was detonated above the dance floor. Warning these things make an absolute mess, and the stuff goes everywhere and is very slippery!!!

Tried to get the best man to sort out my fee as under my T&C's payment is first. Had real problems trying to get the fee sorted, somone else had it, couldn't find cheque book, (I showed a copy of the booking letter and the bit about CASH).

I did get it at the end (1AM), apparently someone did have it.

Dance floor was busy all night, line dancing seemed very popular!

Good night let down by the unfriendly-ness and rudeness of some people. I see this so many times always at weddings, you are taken for granted....play this.....abba next........I want xxxxxxxx, not one PLEASE all night. Not one thank you......

Then on Sunday a 10th Girls Birthday!!

Total contrast, Fab afternoon really enjoyable , very very hot, loads of games, polite and well behave children and a TIP!

Friday was the residency, St Ives. 8.30pm - 1am

Inside temperature hit 32C and most of the windows were open except the one behind me.

Pretty dead until around 9.30pm when 'regulars' started filling the place.

Good night and good clean fun! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Saturday - Wedding, Kent. 7pm - 12 Midnight

Lovely couple and fantastic guests. Didn't take long to get the night going as everybody wanted to party!

Let down by the roadie last minute....but it didn't matter as I was in a really good mood. Loaded the motor quick and set off for home by 1.15am.

THEN......having plodded past the Dartford Toll booths whilst listening to some chill sounds on Radio 2 (which I must add were pretty chill) I developed a sudden sickness and awful stomach upset.

BTW it wasn't Red Bull because I didn't drink any on night! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Got home and unloaded by 2.30am then was up for the rest of the night being sick.

Great! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Reminds me has anyone else noticed you can still pick up radio in Dartford tunnel?

Don't know if it works for all but certainly Virgin
