Doesn't have to cost a lot. It can be done on a cost per click basis and you set a daily budget for it.

I've used it before for a different business so that the Google ad would pop up automatically when certain search terms were input. It worked well.

The very expensive ones are the ones which appear across the top of the google search page, these cost £10,000's and Yes!, there are DJ's using them! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif

The ones down the right of the page are just standard pay per click adwords, however even using these can cost a small fortune over a month.

I thought the ones across the top were randomly selected ?

  • 1 month later...

I think the ones at the top are just the No1 or No2 - I'm running a Google Adwords campaign at work at the moment and we appear at the top of the page for quite a few searches where we score highly. Either that or they rotate the top scoring sites.

The minimum cost per click is 5p, so it needn't cost a fortune. of course, depending on what the competition are bidding, 5p might get you listed at No 20. There is a tool that will estimate your adwords ranking depending on the cost per click and the search terms - you can use this to tweak your ad so you pay very little and show in the top 5.

Cheers,

Jack.

I personally do not think that Google AdWords are worth the money. Every day, more and more people using the internet are becoming wise to pop-up advertising, skyscraper banners and the paid-for advertising on Google. In my experience, users tend to now gloss over advertisments to get stuck straight into the content of a web site, even more so if it is search engine results.

A good natural search engine placement without paying for it is not impossible, but does take time. And even if someone does click your AdWord in Google, it does not guarantee it will turn into a booking. You have to evaluate the costs you are prepared to pay per visitor to your site and off-set that woth the amount of revenue these paid for clicks bring in.

In my experience and my own opinion, the revenue generated comes no where near the costs that are involved and make it a waste of time.

Please let me know if anyone has had a massive positive experience with AdWords for their mobile disco.

I completely agree with Paul on the value of Adwords advertising. While it does drive large volumes of traffic to your site, the number of people who go on to do whatever it is you want them to do can be very small. We have seen our traffic drop back to a much higher level after we stop a campaign, suggesting that at least some of the people who clicked through come back, but whether they are a good ROI for the future is still to be established.

I see Eskie is running Adwords at the moment - how's it working for you? (I saved you some money by not clicking on your link BTW)

Cheers,

Jack.
