jeffwall 0
i always test with cotten eyed joe coz the bass beat is really low and powererful, i tend to set my sub up with that so all the rest dont over do it (if you know what i mean) but only play cotten eyed joe when the mood takes me! Bit tired of hearing it now

Andy Westcott 0
Basstoy - Runnin'. Contains some particularly deep bass along with the main bass note one octave higher. Not noticable on many systems - I wasn't aware of it until I bought the track. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif Another pleasantly deep bit of bass is right at the beginning of Cornershop's 'Brim Full Of Asha'. The bass line dips down fairly low just during the intro, but doesn't do it again during the track. 'Love' by the Twinkle Brothers. (Who?? What?? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif ) But if anyone wants me to come and flex their bass bins, I'm happy to prepare some cone-ripping sub-bass sound effects for the job. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
RichardP 0
QUOTE (stevie @ Aug 5 2005, 02:05 AM) listened to oxygene on cd (good job my kids can sleep well) On the home hifi(mission cyrus, denon n ruarks) WOW! Would love to hear it on a realy big rig Good call Gary/Stevie - Oxygene rocks! these obscure numbers also spring to mind: ... Sasha - Magnetic North ... LFO - LFO ... Way Out West - Domination ... Tillman Uhrmacher - On The Run ... Way Out West - Hypnotise/Sharkhunt ... Rhythmatic - Frequency (depth mix) ... Utah Saints - I Want You (DJ Tim's Funky Bliss mix #1) Course, there's loads, though I tend to put squeakers through their paces with busy electronic music ... erm, then suffer exacerbated tinnitus the rest of the week http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/headphone.gif <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>

HeadlineDJ 0
When I test for quality and precision on speakers I like to use: Enya - Only Time (nice lows mixed with sharp mids and clear highs) Eva Cassidy - Fields of Gold (excellent for testing vocal responces) Dire Straights - Money for Nothing (great intro and kick drums) Those are for general playback responces, I also do use test tones for more analytical testing with pressure meters. (never at gigs though) Edited May 8, 2006 by HeadlineDJ Regards, Phil Hulton HeadlineDJ
HeadlineDJ 0
Just checked my Test list and this makes the full list I use, sometimes all of them, other times just one if time is not on my side. Saying this, my previous post is the norm. Eva Cassidy - Fields of Gold Enya - Only Time Dire Straights - Money For Nothing Yellow - Oh Yeah! Robin S - Luv 4 Luv Bon Jovi - Bed Of Roses Bach - Toccotta & Fuge in D Minor (all 9.2 minutes of it if permitted) Playing Yellow and Robin S consecutively allows for enough time to survey the given venue for any standing waves from the subs, especially near any tables and seating areas. This allows the positioning of the subs to be tweaked, only a few inches can make a lot of difference here, also it can be used to source weak spots on the dance floor. Of course in an ideal world.... but given the opportunity it does pay dividends later in the night when things might get thumpy. BigBen 0
I use five tracks: No Doubt - Don't Speak Motorhead - Ace of Spades Tony Bennet - Fly me to the Moon Brian Setzer Orchestra - Jump, Jive and Wail Robbie & Kylie - Kids I think that this little blend gives the gear a good warm up, gets me in the mood because at least three of the five I would listen to in my own time and, obviously, it enables me to walk the room tweaking the sound.
