After last nights jaunt into turnip land, Got home at 6am I blocked tonight out of my Diary so Sharon & I are going to see Clare Teal,

Saturday a wedding in Cobham Surrey,

Sunday Another night off and off to see another concert, this thime it's a very old friend of mine top soul & jazz DJ plus one of the worlds top percussionists Snowboy

these two gigs are part of the Southend International Jazz Festival, and with the 2 live gigs here I managed to take in 3 of the performances, last sunday I managed to finally see one of my favourite bands live, the legendary Fatback Band, who treated the packed venue to over 2 hours of classic funk, if yoiu get the chance to see the Fatback Band, make sure you do. the band leader & drummer Bill curtis is now 73 years old, and still playing superbly

My 'weekend' started on Wed with the quietist wedding of the year (so far). 40 people in a room that could hold 200 and as people rushed off the floor at the end of the 2nd dance I knew they would take a while before braving it again (it was 11.30 before they came back on to it). In the interim period I played a bit of everything and the reaction of people that I spoke to was that they were enjoying the music but just weren't in the mood to dance or request anything either. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif

Thurs night was a complete contrast. The floor filled from the start, stayed like that until the end and there were plenty of requests and singing as well. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I know the money's the same but I'd rather have a busy dancefloor. The other weird thing is that it's these quieter gigs that seem to generate more referrals for future bookings. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif

Saturday - wedding at Kimbolton Castle.

First dance "Heaven" - Bryan Adams, followed by "Are You Ready For Love" by Elton John then "Sex Bomb" Tom Jones. Not too sure about that.

Other requested music - "Toxic" and "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears

"Take On Me" Aha, "I Am The One & Only" - Chesney Hawkes, anything by Abba, "Could It Be Magic" -Take That, anything by Justin Timberlake.

Certainly an eclectic mix. Oh - I've been asked to try to keep the dancefloor busy!!

Did a gig for a european call centre here in NI. Lots of different nationalities to please. I think I did a good job in catering for most tastes. Got requests from Iron Maiden to Ragga. Played from 8.00-12.30

Best songs of the night - Anarachy in the UK - Sex Pistols http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Walk this way - Aerosmith

or Its getting hot in here - Nelly (nearly got a bit X rated on the floor to this one)

The good thing about such a huge crowd was that even if only a third were dancing the floor was packed http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif

Pratt of the evening - Large Belgian dude - "wheres my F....king request" - nice

but he was our best friend by the end

sore back today. 2 flights of stairs last night

Big thanks to CS for some Norwegian tunes http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif
