At first glance there doesnt seem to be a single track with a BPM above "Sleep speed", but at second glance...its confirmed... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sleep1.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Possibly one of the few tracks to feature bagpipes and make it to No.1, "Mull of Kintyre" whined its way up to the top of the charts for Wings, and stayed there for 9 kintyre weeks in this year.

Abbas unknowing came out with their Alan Partridge show theme tune and kept the number 1 spot for 5 weeks, matching the hold on the top spot by Elvis with "Way Down".

Abba featured again this year with "The name of the game"; No1 for 4 weeks, the same duration as David Soul "Don't Give up on us baby" (who by this time had given up on Starsky & Hutch - The US pre-runner to The Professionals...but with a better Capri!). 4 weeks at No1 was also attained by Rod Stewart, who didn't want to talk about the first cut being the deepest - and Donna Summer felt love for 4 weeks too.

Leo Sayer needed us, Manhatten Transfer went all french on us with "Chanson D'Amour", Hot Chocolate told us we'd won again, and Starsky (or was it Hutch) was back again with "Silver Lady" - all at the no.1 position for 3 weeks each.

Only one artiste held onto the top spot for just two weeks - Deniece Williams, with "Free". Still, musn't grumble - that was a week longer on top of the charts than Julie Covingtons "Dont cry for me Argentina", Kenny Rogers "Lucille", Jacksons "I'll show you the way", The Brotherhood of Mans "Angelo", The Floaters "Float on" (I'm a Gemini...) and even the sultry dark eyes of the female Duo Baccara, with "Yes Sir, I can Boogie".

I've a feeling that this could be a 2 horse race...

Votes away....

Steve... Mad bad & dangerous to know

Better to study for one hour with the wise, than to drink wine with the foolish.

The opinions of Corabar Steve are not necessarily those of Corabar Ltd or any of it's subsidiary companies
