Gary 0
Got a £20 tip last night http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif ... ...whilst setting up http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif I'll need to explain that one. I'd been politely chasing last nights bride and groom for the last month or so about their choice of first record. They'd be undecided up until Wednesday, when they'd called me and asked for an Olivia Newton-John track; "I love you, I really do" I advised them that I'd not heard of the track, but had a couple of albums of ONJ greatest hits etc. The couple didn't have the song in their collection either. Anyway, I checked the albums, with no success so went to plan "B" - start checking out the Discography sections on some ONJ websites. When this yielded no results either then I did a lyric search on ONJ songs, still nothing. Next I lyric searched other artists - still no match. I was now fairly sure that the B&G had got the song title wrong. The only likely ONJ song was "I Honestly Love You", which seemed to imply the same sorta sentiments http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif I decided to call the B&G back Wednesday afternoon, after the above checks and got no reply, tried the grooms mobile...voicemail only, left a detailed message, explaining the situation and requesting confirmation of the artist and title. No reply as at Thursday midday. Then I recalled that a couple of months ago, I'd called the groom in his mobile and he'd had such a bad signal that he'd given me the landline number of his parents house, where he was at that moment. I ploughed through my itemised call listings and found the number; dialled it and spoke to the parents, initially asking if they knew where I could get hold of the bride or groom. Not a hope, B&G have gone off to the new forest for 2 days of pre-wedding relaxation with mobiles off. So, next I explain the predicament to the parents (casually like). Anyway...as of yesterday, the big day, still no contact from the B&G, so I simply had to prepare myself for possibly not having the first record. As I start setting up, I pull the two ONJ albums out in preparation of an awkward conversation, once Im up & running. But then the B&G enter and apologize for not getting back to me sooner and I ask whether they meant ONJ's "I honestly love you" http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif ....success! a 30 second play of the track confirms that they'd mis-remembered the title and had caused me several phone calls because of this...hence, the tip... Rest of the night was a liitle quiet but with some people on the floor for each track, so, lots of opportunity for audience interaction.
dj007 0
what a weekend so far http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/188.gif loaded up the gear yesterday lunchtime so i could set up early and the http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif bmw packed up on me. it was mis fireing or something. called rac, 3 hours later and hes got no idea. changed all the coils and still the same. told not to drive it as the management system warning light was on. contacted bmw, cant book car in until tuesday. waranty has just run out 5 months ago so im now buggered. having to rely on friends. anyway, after getting to the hospital and setting up for the doctors and nurses party i was totally nackered. but it was one of the best discos i had done in a long while. dancefloor packed from 8.30 until closing time at 12.30 and my new green laser was brilliant.
