nrgize 0
Last week I was looking through ebay doing the rounds, and found something which I thought was too good to be true! I was looking at buying a plastic pair of Speakers Cabs, and was saving money. But when these speakers came up couldnt help but buy them! They only cost £120 a pair and they sound awesome. They are soundlab speakers at 300watts rms, 15inch cones, and come with padded bags for them. I used them on their own for an hour on Saturday night with a venue holding 250 people and had no problems. I thought these were a very good buy and thought I would pass it on! The picture on ebay is some speakers that are a different make. But soundlab speakers are provided instead of the meridian pictured speakers. Took some photos on the day i received them, took them in the kitchen. http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/7074/photo03587nj.th.jpg http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/5860/photo03627tc.th.jpg http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/5868/photo03630vn.th.jpg Ebay Link : [Link removed due to trader being removed by Ebay - Admin] Nathan Edited April 2, 2006 by Chris_Pointon Email :: info@nrgize-disco.co.uk
High Fidelity 0
I too have the Soundlabs and I think TonyJ uses them as well. Yes they are quite nice. My only gripe with them is that they are a bit toppy and I have to kill the top end off quite severely. Quitting Smoking & Drinking doesn't make you live longer It just feels like it. nrgize 0
I have found that as well. I have to really turn the tops control down. I am going to buy another amp, and a graphic equaliser next so i can kill the treble to them speakers and not the Peaveys. The soundlabs did sound a little high from the top end, so when turning down the Peaveys suffered. But still not bad for £120! Have got some piccies on another post i have made of the speakers : NEW SPEAKERS AND MAIN PICTURES Thanks, Nathan Email :: info@nrgize-disco.co.uk

FrankieJ 0
These look great Nrgize, Im after a second pair as back up speakers. What was the delivery time like? did you get any problems at all? DJ Frankie Knuckles.
ChrisPointon 0
I was sceptical when I first took delivery of a pair of these back in July, I needed some cheap speakers for additional stage sound reinforcement at a big charity gig I was doing, which would also serve for hiring out at P.A events. However I was very surprised at the quality of these, and they do match the standards and sound just as good as some other speakers which are £100 - £150 a pair more. I solved the toppy response from the horn by changing a resistor value - however if you use them in conjunction with bass bins, or can turn down the HF level on your mixer without affecting other speakers then it isn't much of a problem. I'll get around to posting details of the modification I made, at some point but bear in mind that it will invalidate your warranty http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif At £120, for 300W RMS speakers, you will have a bargain http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif - even if you only use them as a back up. Listening to these myself did convince me, that between some of the tat, there really are some little gold nuggets available in the cheaper end of the market. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif
FrankieJ 0
Hi Chris, Sorry for being so dim, are the Soundlab speakers 300 watts each or total in both? DJ Frankie Knuckles.
ChrisPointon 0
Looking at the info, they are exactly the same as the ones I have. Which are 300W RMS per cabinet at 8 Ohms. I have used them for long periods at around this level with no problems at all http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif
nrgize 0
Thats what mine are, 300watts RMS each speaker. I brought them as a backup pair of speakers, and to use in conjuction with my peaveys for bigger venues. Space is quite tight in the car, and these fit in nicely. Did you get the plastic cabs too Chris ?? Nathan Email :: info@nrgize-disco.co.uk
icarusdragon 0
Chris Just forgive me if I am being dumb but if I connected the soundlab speakers I bought the details are below, to my very low budget set that are 106 rms. can I connect these in series to get the 4ohms output of my Amp? Bass Driver - 381mm (15") Tweeter - 100 x 260mm Impedance - 8 Ohms Peak Music Power - 400W Power - 200W (RMS) Frequency Responce - 50-20000Hz Outputs - 6.35mm Jack socket Inputs - 6.35mm Jack socket Dims - 795 x 512 x 450mm
ChrisPointon 0
No, if you connect speakers in series, you effectively increase the impedance. So 2x 8 ohm speakers connected in series will present a load of 16 ohms (give or take an ohm!) to the amplifier. So the amplifier will provide less power. You would need to connect the speakers in Parallel to decrease the impedance. So 2x 8 ohms speakers will present a load of 4 ohms to the amplifier when connected in this manner. Have a read of this article - Understanding Speaker Impedances for more information
NineLives 0
Seller of these speakers had a poor feedback rating and is no longer registered as an ebay seller, you may have just had a lucky escape !?? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif

Corabar Steve 0
While we're on Budget speakers, has anyone else had any experience of Class D? They also sell on eBay, we chanced our arm on a set the other week & I must say they are fantastic (if a little Toppy) I got a very clear rich tone & sound from them (in fact my other half came into the room when I was giving them a trail run & said " If they sounded any warmer they'd be on fire!") Must have been a lucky escape then!! They left me some strange feedback when I bought them. it was the first time I'd spent that much on 1 item on ebay! They are reasonably good speakers. But still have problems with them having too much tops. I have to use a separate Graphic Equaliser for the amp powering them speakers. But they are ok. I dont use them that much. Only at Kids parties really, sticky finger marks clean of these easier than the carpet covered peaveys! Email :: info@nrgize-disco.co.uk

Their OEM part numbers are JAC12 / 15... etc. Jiax Jinlida Electron website The main difference between the class-d speakers and others made into the same moulded enclosure (I could name about 5), is that class-d have spent a large amount of time developing there own drivers and crosovers. Although the class-d speakers are made in China the drivers are made to class-d's own design and have the class-d name across the fromt of the driver and much better sound and power ratings to the default chinese ones used by the others. PS. class-d actually own 50% of a factory in china to get better control of the products. Dicky DMX help and support Great prices on class-d speaker systems
