Dillmiester 0
Im looking for more "bass kick" in my speaker set up. I currently use a pair of generic 15" disco cabs on stands. They claim to be around 300watt a side but they are loud enough for now. I generally do gigs for no more then 250 people, im not a pro and only do this for friends and family when needed. So i dont want to be spending alot of money. The amp I use has not got any juice left to power any more speakers like a pair of bottoms. So I got thinking that there must be the option of adding a single active sub to just give that bottom end thump. I could shove it under the table and it can have another output from the desk, job done. So over to you guys? The only one ive found so far was a Carlsbro one for around £450 but I dont want to spend much more than half that. Cheers

DJ Marky Marc 0
Take a look at the FBT active subs .. they offer great bass for a great price... <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
Dillmiester 0
Hmm this may get expensive. Maybe it would be better value to get a Class D sub (£125) and a dedicated amplifier (not found one yet).
jeffwall 0
The mackie 1801 is not a good seller (ive been told) due to the weight, size and the "too much bass in the immediate area" factor! see the mackie 1801 review don a few months ago on here...sorry cant do the link You may be better going for 2 x 1501's (depending on the size of the gigs your doing Also i noticed the price at 799 Im Sure ive seen them much cheaper than this (i think?)...shop about coz nobody uses them for the average gig, therefore selling cheap I use srm 450's and a 1501.....no probs with bass ever so far http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/beer.gif
FDDJ 0
A budget of £225ish isn't going to get you a brilliant powered sub brand new, although I believe Skytec do a powered 15" sub for around the £250 mark. Even 2nd hand you will find most decent subs (the Mackies, FBT's etc.) will still be out of your budget. Look on eBay, you will find some really cheap unpowered subs on there and may even get them cheap enough to buy an amp with them as well. They may not last very long though.... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif Edited November 21, 2005 by StevJam "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." - Charles Darwin <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
spinner 0
Alto produce a 12" powered bass bin that retails for around £295. Rated at 250 watts RMS.
DJ Dicky 0
If you already use a 15" full range speaker, You will not gain much with a 12" sub A class-d 15" bass bin and a seperate amp is a good bet. I will get back to you with a speaker and amp price (I am waiting for distributor pricing at the moment). If not I may have a DB 15" active sub for sale soon (as soon as I can get it out of the back of the trailer) Thanks Dicky DMX help and support Great prices on class-d speaker systems
chrismk 0
Subs Subs Subs...... they're either very good or *^%*, phasing can sometimes be problem, not just due to the design but merley because of the driver used in the bin, Im thinking of building a dual or sinlge 18" bandpass type with dedicated amp in bridge mode which will be the same make/model as the main amp that powers my speakers
