Gary 0
Grrrrrr - I'd class the list in the same way as "Please play anything by..." meaning; "I'm going to toe-tap my way through these tunes as I like the artist" From this point of view, I'd choose some uptempo dancey tunes for "main" and some "dull", mediocre downtempo ones for buffet/background. Scissor Sisters Filthy Gorgeous - Laura (mixed with Thomas the Tank Engine http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif ) David Bowie (as much as possible) Lets Dance, Modern Love, (Laughing gnome http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif ), Dancin' in the Street, oh and his Duet with Bing Crosby if the gigs this side of xmas. Rolling Stones I cant get no satisfaction (dedicated to the blokes, from the ladies) Brown Sugar. Jumpin' jack flash The Beatles Help!, Hard days night, daytripper, anything! Foo Fighters Dunno...would have to audition a foo, sorry FEW of their tracks Queens of the Stone Age Dunno...would have to audition a few of their tracks Glam Rock/Post Punk/New Romantic bands Oh, so he's not even going with "anything by" anymore huh...just genres...oh super.. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif T-rex, Sweet, Wizzard, Mud(d), in fact any blokes group thats worn makeup. Duran Duran Rio, Reflex, Planet Earth, Is there something I should know?, Girls on cling film, wild boys. Simple Minds (thats no way to talk about Oasis...well actually...) Dont you forget about me, waterfront. Katie Melua Buffet stuff only - no dance suggestions. Kate Bush Hounds of love KT Tunstall Suddenly I see, Other side of the world. BigBen 0
I'll work with Foo fighters and Queens of the Stone Age. FF "Hits": Big Me Monkey Wrench Learn to Fly Breakout Next Year All my Life Time Like These Best of You One by One As for usability at a disco - well, not none really! But, as fan, I like: Breakout (theme from Me, Myself and Irene) Big Me (nice danceable tempo, not hard rock at all) Learn to Fly (again slightly slower than their normal rocky stuff but melodic enough to dance to) Next Year (as Learn to Fly) Monkey Wrench (this is a bit more traditional Foo stuff, so they may prefer this as it is a but punchier - they'd have to pogo to it though!) The Queens have only had a couple of hits, again neither dancey! No-one Knows is the onyl one I would consider though. Both these bands have had loads of exposure on Music TV so most tracks will be recognisable, if not danceable. [insert quirky comment]
cj_65 0
You could do some more imaginative things like cover versions - Divo - Satisfaction Tina Turner's - Brown Sugar they're both a bit more dancable than the originals (but only just).
