  1. Depending on the type of horn used it is quite possible that it will need some correction in the crossover to sound good. Otherwise you may be seriously lacking in anything 5khz+ CD Horn EQ
  2. This can be done but to make things sound good you will probably need and l-pad and some horn eq on the crossover too. Modifying it isn't easy if you don't have the right tools and know how. Sell the cabs and buy something better is my advice.
  3. iShow Laser Software & Interface. Software on CD, USB to ILDA interface, PSU, USB cable and 5m ILDA cable included. All in good working order. £70 delivered to you door
  4. I used a Denon DN-X800 for a long time before I went to an S2. I have to admit I actually liked to use the X800 better. It just felt more intuitive somehow. The monitoring section was set up more to my tastes. The S2 does feel better built however. Quality of components seems better. As for the sound it's quite a subjective thing. All I can say is it didn't get any worse. Now of course they are the same thing so in the future, who knows. The DN-X1700 does look nice though! Wonder if there is much A&H in there.
  5. Nothing here that Numark and Denon have not done already.
  6. I recently had a pair of Class-d Jac12s. I took a look at the crossover and analysed their response with SMAART. I wouldn't say they were fabulous for the money. I would say you get what you pay for. I would imagine the RCFs are the best of the lot you mentioned .
  7. NJD cabs mentioned above are better.
  8. I think you are getting a bit confused here between your SPL figures. There are usually two stated. SPL at 1 meter using 1 watt of power and MAX SPL. The 1w/1m meter figure for a 15" + 1" is usually somewhere between 90-105db, no more. MAX SPL can be anywhere from 110db to 140db or so depending on the speaker. Look for a 1w/1m figure. The higher that is, the more volume you will get from the same amplifier.
  9. I would ask over at www.denondjforums.com. More people in the know over there.
  10. I know from experience that designing speakers is not a trivial task. You will end up with something that makes sound but to get something to sound good takes a lot of knowledge, experience and equipment. If you have the drivers, time and patience then give it a bash but be prepared for a steep learning curve.
  11. I agree that the forum seems to have bee abandoned a bit. Although a lot of manufacturers don't even have such a facility. Support is still there however. Perhaps just not as easy to access as it was before.
  12. For about £1150 with some careful shopping you could have two NJD 12" tops & two 15" bins (Celestion loaded, birch ply), 2 Behringer EP2500 amps and CX2310 crossover. All brand new with a warranty. If you go for the fuzzy carpet covered cabs, a bit less even. Think I would rather be using something like that than spending all that cash on average quality Peavey gear with an unknown history.
  13. I use the HDC-3000 regularly without issues. Make sure you have the latest firmware, only have MP3 or WAV files on your removable media and no more than 1000 tracks in any one folder. It's worth re-creating the database from scratch now and again. They will both handle CBR and VBR but better to stick with CBR if you can. The units have to work much harder with VBR files so more chance of having an issue. Oh, and always use a powered hub if you need one. Follow these instructions and you should have no problems with the HDC-1000 or 3000 units.
  14. Price sounds a bit steep to me for that gear.
  15. I'm usin a A&H Xone S2 at the moment. It's nice but I have to admit I prefered the way the monitoring worked on my old Denon DN-X800. Just a matter of getting used to it I suppose.
