  2. QUOTE Hi Peter P As you have a extigy 2 soundcard can you tell if you can que one track up in your headphones whilst playing a mp3, without the public hearing it? yes that's easily possible by selecting the correct output mode in PCDJ. QUOTE Hi Peter P Also do you use the "cue" points in Pcdj red? No, i mply use PCDJ to play music. cheers
  3. PCDJ Red user, has worked flawlessy for over 2 years, great programme, easy to use, uncluttered & logical display.
  4. Hi, i use a Shuttle SB51G, P4 2.4ghz, 512 RAM, 120gig HHD. It's has worked flawlessly for over 2 years. Adding a sound card is no problem as it has a spare PCI slot for soundcards. I have a SB Extigy 2 with PCDJ Red. I opted for the Shuttle as it is totally upgradeable and uses common PC components and is cheaper (Unlike limited and expensive laptop upgrades) It's the best bit of investment i made in my years of slogging around heavy CD flightcases. Good luck
  5. QUOTE The Peavey speakers say they will handle 500w program either side, but when I look at the Peavey website, it says 250w RMS, 500w Program and 1000w Peak.. Am sort of lost on what I should be looking for. The difference between 250watts rms and 500watts RMS is only an increase of 1/10th in loudness. So its bearly noticeable and i would worry too much about it.
  6. QUOTE The difference between 3dB is equivalant to doubling the loudness of the sound. A 3db increase double the power (watts)not the volume of the sound (a common confusion). To double the loudness you would need to increase the power 10 times. Remember sound works logarithically. To double the loudness of a 250watts RMS speaker you would need 2500watts RMS. A 3db increase is a very slight change in loudness. So if you go from 250rms to 500rms that would be a 3db increase.
  7. The Soundlab DJ-10 mixer is excellent for the price of £79.99. I bought one from Chris. Very pleased. It's very well built and has a host of features listed below. I've ammended Chris's original list to add extra functions not listed on his list. In my opinion the best priced/featured mixer on the market. *4 Input channels each with its own overall Gain Control *2 Channels Switchable "Phono / line" for Turntables *2 Dedicated Mic Inputs each with Gain Control *Bass & Treble control on Mic Input *Auto & Manual talk over Mic function *Effects send circuit *Variable AVO (Voice
  8. The best price i've seen for the Peavey PV1500 is £295. Remeber these amps have 2 built in active crossover so will be ideal for your bi-amp set up.
  9. QUOTE Hi everyone just looking at upgrading my speakers. Im am looking at the peavey sp2x's just wondering wot people thought of them many thanks The Peavey SP2X is more of an an American model than a European one, but i believe it is similar in spec to the old Hisys2XT, which was replaced by the Hisys 2RX and which now has been replaced by the new breed Peavey UL Messenger series. So in response to your question the SP2X is a pretty old model but nevetheless a solid all round performer. If the price is right could be a good deal.
  10. QUOTE To test a speaker on a continuous never changing fixed frequency of 1kz (as above) would mean that either the RMS figure would drop or distortion at the RMS figure would increase beyond that stated (1%), when the speaker is fed with an ever changing frequency such as that found in music signals. For this reason, it is always advisable to take manufacturers ratings with a pinch of salt, and allow a little bit of a safety margin for the speaker when matching it to the RMS power of an amplifier. Just to add a point. The test signals produced in labs, lets say at 1khz are much more intensiv
  11. QUOTE With due respect, if you need to be asking what a crossover is and does, you shouldn't be thinking about playing about with your P.A HARSH http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/nono.gif
  12. Chris, Will you in the near future be stocking Peavey gear?

    Amps

I agree with 9lives, the Peavey amps are just as powerful and as well made as the QSC RMXs, with the addition of 2 active xovers and 5year warranties. The reason they are cheaper is that Peavey have a UK base whereas don't. Remember in the US the QSC RMX 2450 is cheaper than the Peavey PV2600. go peavey, you won't look back.
  14. See results of shootout below Intel Vs AMD
  15. QUOTE If the joining lead is run alongside other cables (EG: Power cables), try powering up the EVL's with nothing else powered up. This would isolate whether or not the DMX signal is getting interfered with by external fields. It could quite simply be that the spins are in dual mode. In this mode the spins do sync in and out and work in opposing directions. Just a guess.
