    I'm a Roadie for a DJ
  1. Please don't take this the wrong way....but it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has gigs from hell. Here's my most recent one........ I was in a pub with a dj friend (which was his regular Friday night spot) and he was asked by one of his regualrs if he could dj a Sunday afternoon christening for them. The hours were 12pm till 5pm. He said 'no' but suggested asking me if I was free. I happened to be free (don't get many Sunday afternoon bookings) and agreed a price. I did agree a small discount as it was for 'a friend of a friend'. I was then asked to play nothing but 60's - 80'
  2. Chris, you are indeed a true gent and scholar. Yet again I bow down with gratitude for your help. Thanks again. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  3. Thanks Chris. You've comfirmed my worst suspicions. Do you think my amp could cope with 4 peavey pro 15's, with each cab running at 250w continuous at 4 Ohms? Don't want to go and blow more money on some more unsuitable speakers. Cheers.
  4. Oh dear. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sad.gif After reading the posts in this topic, I am now concerned about my setup. The rating of my speakers, below, are actually PEAK ratings and have no program or rms figures on them. 2x Skytec 12" 200W speakers (8 Ohms) 2x Skytec (2x12" drivers) 300w speakers (8 Ohms) I run them with 2 speakers per channel. The amp..... SoundLAB G097M Amp ...has the following rating.... Stereo 650w @ 4 Ohms 400w @ 8 Ohms Mono Bridged 1000w @ 8 Ohms Is my assumption that my speakers are actually very weak and are being hea

  6. Thanks for making me feel so welcome. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  7. Hi all. Thought I'd better pop a post in here to introduce myself. I'm a newbie to the mobile circuit and just about to start doing a few 'proper' gigs. I started out dj'ing in the early 90's at a local club in town. During this time, I met my wife and decided to hang up my headphones and settle down. Earlier this year I got the urge to start up again and set myself a target of going mobile. Managed to get myself a slot in a town centre pub for a few months to try and get back into it and to raise a few pounds. I have had to start with some real budget kit but, as they say, everyone ha
  8. Ade, You have saved the day. If you could send me a copy of the manual I'd very much appreciate it. I'll PM my email addy to you. Thanks to everyone for their help with this. Look out for more confused posts by me in the very near future. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  9. I bought the lights second hand as funds are low http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sad.gif and didn't get a manual with them. Wasn't too worried at the time as I foolishly thought I'd be able to work it out easily enough. How wrong I was.......
  10. QUOTE (jackwabbit @ Oct 12 2004, 12:00 PM)We have a pair of ACME Puma’s & the one the controller plugs into has to be set as master & the other has to be set as slave, I would have thought it would be the same with your ACME Spiral Scans. Can you tell me how you set one as master and the other as slave? If my memory servers me well the switches on each are numbered from 0-9. Cheers.
  11. Thanks for that. I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on. Fingers crossed!!!! Cheers.
  12. I'm fairly new to the forum so I'll start with a big Hello to everyone, also, I'm not entirely sure that this topic goes here, but here it is anyway...... I am just starting out on the long, rocky road of a mobile dj and have recently purchased a pair of ACME Spiral Scans. The lights themselves work fine when linked up together with a DMX cable, however, my problem is this...... The blackout controller which came with them only blacks out one light. I have attached it to both incase of a master/slave situation but to no avail. Whichever light has the controller gets blacked out but
