  1. for me , its the pioneer cd players, with out these the transition from vinyl to cd would have been horrible. another equal tool is the cdr recorder !! and i suppose pc's to download tunes are another god send.
  2. star cloth with fibre optics is great by the way, but the thing is to use it BEHIND you !! ie, get a couple of stands with a long bar and attach the star cloth to it, looks good and covers up that nasty looking wall behind you ~ then you can definately get rid of the screens !!!!! i know of a source for fibre optic cables and light sources and the prices are reasonable so i wouldnt bother messing about with leds, not sure if this will get past the moderator but the company is called ***** based in ****, another place by the way where you can buy complete star cloths is ********* in ******* ( m
  3. yeah i kind of agree with last comment, i dont actually use props but i do dance around behind the decks and do fatboy slim style hands in the type things !!! i hate seeing djs who just stand motionless behind the decks. as for being critical , i love watching other djs work, but i would never go up to them and say i'm a dj, can i help/watch/ go through your cd's like some do !! isn't that annoying ???
  4. so far ive been lucky, ive only ever been asked for a pat cartificate once and that was at a shopping centre, surrey quays, i've even worked the grosvenor house hotel, park lane and wasn't asked. i must get round to getting one though and i agree that pat testing is a good thing, i mean ive seen lots of dodgy light boxes with wires hanging out the bulgins etc, and you know what kids are like ~ ive even seen a mobile with light boxes without screens that actually had bulbs missing so if a kid stuck his finger in at the moment he would be zapped !!

    Drink

we'll i'll admit to it ! i always drink when i'm working, not for dutch courage, i just think its nice to have a few pints, ( i mean during my rave years other substances were sometimes taken / smoked !! ) funny comment about having a wee, as i always work on my own i have to time it carefully and avoid getting into toilet conversations with p:cense:ed up punters !!!
  6. it looks as if youre calling me a mug eskie !! sorry i should have said i like sophie eb's music and not her . i've never met her so i dont know what shes like personally ~ but i dont really care , all i said was that shes made some good "mobile disco" tunes and anyone who runs a mobile disco will know what i mean. Also about the rose tinted glasses bit - no way- the early to mid ninetys were the dogs b******s, as for blackbox, i think lolleata holloway was very happy that tune came out, it boosted her profile and made her loads of cash, in fact i think love sensation was re released as a resu
  7. americans certainly have a different taste in music, but you get to know what to play for them with experience !! as for the gig, it went well !! lots of dean martin, frank sinatra etc.
  8. hi ozzy, i'm glad im not the newest member anymore !!!
  9. yeah i agree to an extent, ok for family parties and village hall do's but theres no way you should use them for upmarket and corporate dinner dances. if you've got a trussing rig with lots of effects, then that should be ok with a nice deck stand in the centre. adding screens i think would be too much.
  10. yes !! stuck in the middle is one those songs you can count on !!! i followed it by lets get together, byan ferry ( not mixed ) !!
  11. i can beat that... i was doing a birthday party for a disabled girl, she and most of her friends were in wheelchairs... then accidently i said one of my usual lines " come on everybody..lets see you all on your feet " oops !!!
  12. i still blame radio 1 for not wanting to play happy dancy music and instead playing boring stuff like 50 cent. some s club 7 tunes were ok, as were some of kylies, but most dance music acts are here today gone tomorrow manufactured or not, take love inc as an example, the new tune broken bones wont do anything and then they'll be gone ! i like sophie ellis bextor, shes done some great "mobile disco " tunes. things were better in the early to mid 90's ~ loads of good poppy dancey tunes around, m people, d ream, snap, black box etc...
  13. those mastermix cds are a bit crap, i mean its a good idea, but most of the mixes are un playable , i think whoever puts the mixes together needs a kick up the back side !! for example, on there legends series, all you need is perhaps 4 good songs, about 4~5 minutes long, everybodys happy, but not mastermix, they make the mix about 8~ 9 minutes, put a few floor emptiers in ..... there's been a few mastermix cds that i would have been well annoyed if i'd paid £25 for...
  14. yes a few classics there, be my lover by la boche reminds me of when i worked in spain,, but gina g and scatman !!! surely nobody ever plays them ??????
  15. the first time i did the bingo , i let the balls drop back after only the line was called !!!!
