  1. really appreciate all the info, i will explain more of the setup, i am already running from mixer, sub output, to c max 1400w amp, and main output to dare audio 1100w amp, but now i want to add another 2 1100w amps or maybe 1 more 2400w amp, and as im not techie minded i thought that if i simply split the signal this would result in a loss of input to each amp (using ohms law i thought this was a constant factor), apart from sub the othe 3 amps will be running full range speakers, i need all this oomph because i got a contract for event discos, starting at blackpool winter gardens in Nov, howe
  2. ok i im hoping this is an easy one i want to send signal to 3 sep amps from one signal (main output from mixer) so do i need a gizmo to keep the original stereo signal or can i simply split them off http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif

    Soul

hi guys not been active lately but came back to the site as have been asked to do a soul/mowtown gig 12th sep, now i know there are some soul/mowtown specialists out there http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/042.gif and the debate bout what is/isnt, soul/mowtown could prob rage forever http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif but i just need too know that if u got the general spread of top 20 hits from 70's/80's even some 90's approx dozen soul/mowtown cds, would this satisfy the general soul loving community, and lastly is there any tracks that are must haves http://www.dj
  5. ok well i think i exhausted that thread now thanx specially to ads for all info & help.......................do realise of course that when i buy it i will prob b bugging u 4 a while to find out how it all works. but dont worry bonny lad will try for a while first http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  6. well ive played with the demo otsdj v1.0 and looks great but b4 i spend my hard earned is there anywhere to get it cheaper (but stiil kosher), than $299 (ouch) thats about £170, suppose it is worth it but, costs nothing to ask first BTW thanx for the link chris to external soundcard im livin 'n' learnin, ordered 1 straight away, 5:1 soundblaster, its like startin over again, so much to learn, so little time.................................. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif
  7. thanx again guys, yes ads the link u gave is a different prog to the earlier downloaded, looks good had a quick fiddle with, but what i have noticed is the media lib on right does'nt pick up all the info (lots of unknowns), prob got my naming convention wrong or should i b doin summit else. got a feeling i may not have saved them correctly when converted from cd-a, dont think i fancy renaming 3000+ titles just to use a software player. any suggestions
  8. thanks ads where do i get it from or is that kind of info not allowed on site. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/stupid.gif
  9. i use access db open it up at start of night every track has a no. starting at 00001 so when i reach 99999 will have to think of another system http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif but with my 1 finger method guess i wont reach that figure till approx AD2357, In the past 6 month i got bout 3000 tracks listed, i know really sad innit http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif i use simply because i can search listing by title, artist, or year but dont forget any database is only as good as the effort u put into it
  10. wow what a great site http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif been using a laptop 4 bout 6mths, with freeware mixer, came hear heard bout otsdj, downloaded ots turntables free, tried it pretty nifty but a lot of features locked, but impressed enuf to decide to purchase but now i find theres a few diff kinds, so guys (& gals) gimme me some top notch advice on which 1 to get, dont 4get ive only been doin this mobile thing a yr so got a lot of learnin to do, but hey after 2days on the forum, learnin curve gone into orbit thanking u all in advance http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/e
  11. hi i use a toshiba satellite pro p4 2ghz with 30g hdd 512mb ram, all i use for connection to mixer is stereo to phono from headphone socket using on board sound, and let my mixer sort the rest out as long as u make a good job of converting ur cd stuff 2 mp3 there should b no loss of quality as were talkin '0' n '1s' here, digital, my setup is still pretty basic, and i use a freeware prog called "tplayer", nuthin fancy but u can q the tracks up with autofade etc. i got about 1500 songs on mine using bout 8gig, and yes i agree a clean m/c with just ur dj software is best, but i also got m/soft o
  12. nice to get some quick replies i agree with the comment about lights being secondary to performance and entertainment, but it took me a while to get the sound right and i guess lights are the nxt logical step but i guess they can wait a while, i only asked cos someone i know is selling one of them soundlab starter kits as new cond for £250 which i been told is a good price. as 2 the dare amp/speakers i had spks 1st & my original amp was a s/lab sp500 givin out 175w @ 8ohms found i was "underdriving" if there is such a word, so bought the matching amp, and the sound is now superb compared t
  13. i use the goalposts as mentioned but i use lighting brackets cost bout £2 each they bolt to lighting handle and then hang off the crossbar with a small retaining bolt, short off a meteor hitting and causing a rather large bump http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/drama2.gif they'll never fall off and makes for quick set and dismantle, plus them there posts take a fair bit o weight http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/1028.gif i got 6 lamps 2 scanners and a bubble m/c on mine, aint fallen yet http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/whistling.gif
  14. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbup.gif hi peeps been doin this mobile thing for bout a year, not made any money yet as i keep upgrading my kit, but now i got a reasonable sound its time to work on the lighting, been reading a lot on dmx, but what i need 2 know, is it worth the money and how easy is it to set up http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif would also welcome any info on what is considered an acceptable size of amps/speakers etc for a one man band, currently have 1100w dare amp with vs400 spks it gives me 370w per ch at 8ohms, so i guess what im askin is, woul
