    I'm a Roadie for a DJ
  1. Somewhere in the middle of the country would be best if your inviting people from all over so how about GO MK (or milton keynes if you haven't seen the ads) I live in east essex so not promoting where I live by the way! Hats off to the DJ, talk about peer pressure heh!
  2. I personally no longer touch buffet food. I was watching one of those health programs on tv and they was at a posh wedding in one of the larger hotels with a few hundred guests. They tested a plate of these posh sausauge roll type things at the end of the night and found over 100 different types of unrine & semen deposits. Don't get me wrong I'm not a finnicky eater, in fact I've had some dodgy looking stuff in my time (mainly in the Ibiza san an west end!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/scared.gif ) but I never feel like eating while I work anyway. I take 3 bottles
  3. You can buy a box standard Pt tester for around £250 but it has to be sent away to the manufacturers to be calibrated every year at a cost of around £60. My full time job is a studio lighting service engineer and anything that plugs into mains electricity has to be tested (including extension leads) and is classed as a light goods item (class II) These have to be tested using a class II tester, if you buy one that tests both class I&II DO NOT test your disco gear as class I as you will more than likely blow it. If a unit uses a power adaptor is does not need to be tested but the a
  4. Lap top specs seem ok but You could buy/build a pro rack mount PC & LCD screen + external hard drive for less than £1800.
  5. I don't know what the fuss is to be honest. I've had mostly chauvet lights since day one and I've never had one fail! I've bought others becuase of this to be honest. The only other units I've had were a pair of NJD chaos but I sold them on as they seemed to blow a bulb every other gig (some bulb as obsession) and there was very little difference between the 2. I even dropped an obsession unit down 2 flights of stairs uncased and after hammering out all the dents (it was very bent!!!) it worked first time. The bulbs seem to last for ages in them (except the abyss) I can't com
  6. Hi dangermouse I saw a version of that game on me hols. The compere asked the 3 blokes to go and fetch a bra from 3 girls and after he got the girls with no bras to come up onto the stage and made them do star jumps!!! He then asked the girls to go and fetch a pair of trousers and the trouserless chaps had to also come up & do star jumps!!! Had people in stitches!!!! Bouncing bits lol
  7. PCDJFX & dac-2 for me. I had few problems when first bouight but since last upgrade all is ok, I've also added a powered usb hub to help things along as advised by a pcdj moderator. I could have got away with red as a lot of the fx features I do not use but bought the 2 as a package from the US. The UK dealer couldn't get hold of it at the time.
  8. You don't have to pat test it, you may damage if it's pat tested on the wrong settings, you have to pat test the transformer on a load setting but not the items it plugs into. I've just passed a pat test course and thats one of the qustions that came up. Low level volatge items are not covered under hse regs. Otherwise you'd have to pat test mobile phones and stupid things like that. If you do wish to pat test it make sure it's tested on an IT compatible tester to stop high volatges spiking your pic's
  9. I use a 2.5kw generator for outside functions, cost me £250 brand new of e-bay and is a good model. Obviously it wouldn't run my whole rig but would get me out of trouble with sound system & a few lights running.
  10. I use a P2.8 shuttle system running a waveterminal 192l card. I'm running pcdjfx on it with no problems(since the upgrade). I also use a powered USB hub as recommended to run a keyboard, radio mouse & dac-2 controller off it. I like it, it's easy to carry around in a shuttle bag, easy to accomodate into the rig and has been running fine since xmas. I bought it off ebay for £380, including processor, 512mb mem, 120g hd. I then added the waveterminal @ £120
  11. Just introducing myself to the forum. Just a little bit of history. Been a semi-pro now for 2 yrs, doing Ok, I think. Haven't got a Saturday off til Nov 27 so must be doing something right. I use pcdjfx with controller on a shuttle system, been on this since xmas, was using a numark cdn-88(nice player for the cd jock) I work around the NE Essex area eg clacton, colchester & surrounding areas. Have 2 resendencies at the mo but one closing down this year. ps my name is Andy ps
