  1. QUOTE (dj007 @ Jul 27 2005, 09:06 PM)if it happens again does anyone want to buy a BMW http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif Nah, got 2 already http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif
  2. I have a 535i so i know a fair bit about bmw's. Pay an mot tester a few quid to stick the car on his emissions tester before spending money on parts. The ecu that runs the dash can sometimes play silly buggers, and may need resetting. If the emissions have gone t*ts up then either the 02 sensor has gone kapput or the cat is shot. If the cat is shot then go see your bank manager quick as you'd be paying 400 quid + http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif And never take it to a bmw dealer for work or you'll need a mortgage http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif

    BLOCKS OF MUSIC?

I would agree with the read the audience approach. However i've been known to do a wedding where every era is wanted and ended up having a full floor playing 70's for 2 hours.
  4. QUOTE (discodirect @ Jul 19 2005, 12:41 AM) Hi - have you seen Joe? Joe?
  5. Hi all it's me, i'm back to be a pain again http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif I'm still enjoying my time away from dj'ing, but you'll be glad to know i have taken 3 bookings in december (all saturdays). As i sold all of my equipment, these 3 nights i will be working for an agency who will be supplying the necessary equipment already set up for me, so i just walk in with cd's and go, and i only have to pay 50 quid in commission, so i'm happy http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Catch ya laterz http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.g
  6. I used to have a contract with a local church hall doing kiddies parties, doing 6 - 8pm. It was only a 2 minute drive away from my house and i charged them 75 quid a time.
  7. QUOTE (Eskie @ Jul 14 2005, 12:24 PM) Anyone familiar with a venue called the Letchworth Hall Hotel in Letchworth, Hertfordshire? Apparently they have a "Minstrels Gallery" and because of space issues they have the DJ setup in this gallery, which is above the dancefloor. The client who sent me the enquiry asked me if this was normal as she was concerned that it would be a bit strange if the DJ was above all of the guests and I replied that it certainly wasn't normal and that it could well have an effect on the atmosphere because it would make it extremely difficult for me to interact with a
  8. I know it may sound wrong to some, but i used to actively encourage the b&g to have uptempo background music til around 9pm, as in the past i had a wedding where i was asked to do a full on disco for 6 hours! After 4 hours i was left with an empty hall as the guests were tired and was told i could finish early. So with this experience, i used to encourage a 3 to 4 hour disco when taking bookings, and if the booking party wanted it longer i would not take the booking. Maybe i was just lazy http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/nono.gif If i've had a doubt regarding guests requests,
  9. I used to if i was feeling lazy http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
  10. I got so used to doing weddings last year that in the end it was all i did. Otherwise i did private functions as in weddings, birthdays & company xmas functions. I am still thoroughly enjoying my retirement from dj'ing and still don't want to come back to it and even after 4 months i haven't had any itchy fingers.
  11. I used to buy from cpc until they messed me about, TWICE, so i cancelled my account with them.
  12. I never had any problems with video peeps. I always used to take advantage of them and get them to email me an mpeg copy of it as promotional material for me http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Only people i used to get narked off with were toastmasters, who always tried to dictate how the evening progressed, and were the first to get wound up when things didn't go to plan.
  13. New york new york http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
  14. My first dance was a complete disaster. I told the dj 2 weeks in advance that me & the mrs wanted paula abdul's rush rush, and on the day he didn't have it. Instead we had to put up with wet wet wet http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbdown.gif
  15. I didn't put on the auction that it didn't like cdr's as i never really played them, what odd one or two i did put in it played fine. Never mind the new owner is a happy bunny and only uses originals.
