  1. Hi Thanks For The Replies. The shop I got it from is being incrdibly slow to deal with this which is why I had a look myself. The problem im having is I can't find a uk dealer for Aolong. The shop got them in as a one off and although its surposed to have a 5 year warrenty that would mean I have to ship it back to china the way things are going. Anyhow. The volumes were definatly turned down when I turned it back on. I tried it sereral times and every time I turned the power on the amp on it would trip the breaker, but reset the breaker and it would apperar to run fine. I used an antista
  2. Right ive got an Aolong M10 power amp that I use to power my peavey 215xt Subs. Was doing a gig about a month ago and was distacted whilst mixing. The clip leds bearly light up usually as it is a very powerful amp but I was running a little hard this time. I basically was mid mix and the amp shut its self down, went into protect mode. Obviosly I noticed this streight away and turned the gains on the amp down and expected it to reset its self but nothing happened. There was no bang, no smoke, no smell, and it wasent even hot it just went off and would not come back on. Next day I checked al
  3. I'd go and chat up the good looking bar maid before anyone else and find what music she likes so I could play some during the night. Play solitare maybe, listen to some of the new music that I hadent played yet and set some cue points. Niall
  4. Keeping the crowd under control is not usually a problem but at some venues that I play they do get very loud and out of control. I dont find that there any problems playing rnb and hip hop but sometimes songs like the proclaimers 500 miles can set of large groups of lads singing n jumping around like idiots. I find the secret is to play one song and if they do get a bit out of control don't play another song that they will go mental to. You can ususlly see when its going to happen the other problem is when a group start moshing ( think that the right word ) cos that can cause problems ( f
  5. Ive still got my origional pair Peavey HiSYS 2 which I think ive had 8 years. Ive got 4 pairs of them now 4 peavey 215xt bass bins. I never blown a single driver in any of them and I do push them pretty hard. I swear by the Peavey 15" drivers. Amps wise im using a PV2600, and an PV1500 which are both 4 years old. Also a Peavey 800S which is 8 years old. Also using an Aolong M10 power amp which I blew last week, only 6months old :-(. I find the peavey amps last well if flight cased. The cabs are great in my opinion. The only thing with them is that the carpeting comes off after a bit and
  6. My Blobby Seams to have been forgotten. Anything By Aqua ( barbie girl, doctor jones ) Tweenies Bob the Bodger How does that sound??? Niall
  7. Hi Have the same problem being a karaoke host who cant really sing. I sing comedy songs because nobody seams to notice if you cant sing if they are all singing along with you. My favs are Nelly The Ellephant Agadoo Tie My Kangeroo Down Evil Scotsman ( explicit ) I find they usually get the venue going . Niall
  8. I find at most gigs if there is a beffet I get told to help myself by the host when they ask me to announce that the buffet is now ready. If I am going to have some food then I will always waite untill about 10min after all the guests have got theres first. I feel impolite not having some if offered even if I dont eat any of it. Last night there was so much left over the host wanted to know if I wanted to take home several plates of sandwiches home with me. I usually get offered drinks as bribes to play there song first but ususlly decline. Niall
  9. Hi Usually i dont play on longer than the agreed time as i work night clubs a lot so obveiously you can't go on latter. I did a gig last year that was going really well so i kept playing. I was surposed to fin at 12 and stopped the music at 2:30. I didn't ask for any extra pay for the night as I was having a good time anyway. Had about 10 people come and say what a good night they had had and asked for a card also a guy came and gave me £20 out of the blue. I rated it as the best gig I did last year and it was worth playing on. I decided a bit ago that I had to put a bit more into
  10. Hi All I'm not all that old but I started on one of the citonic deck mixer coffins, but mine was the best at the time cos mine had a tape deck as well. Used a Big Technicks power amp to run my OHM300's. The really scary bit is a lot of the equipment mentioned in this section is still in use in on of the local night clubs. Certainly they have about 4 hellicopters but the ones that rotate but also have extra rotators so its like 3 hellicopters on one. Banks of rotating pin spots, I think the newest thing in the club is a moonflower. I also spoke recently to a former club owner who s
  11. Hi All Same happens with a guy round here. Takes on lots of bookings at a lower rate and then offloads them to other djs last min. I've heard him on the phone to customers saying he puts out 6 or 7 discos which is rubbish. It's not on in my opinion. It would be good if feedback could be left for dj's similar to ebay but it would involve all dj's signing up to a perticular web site say. Another point id like to raise is the nameing and shaming. I had a very bad experiance of some idot leaving a remark ,ment as a joke on an open unmoderated forum which cost me a contract doing under 18s
  12. Hi All Have you thought about getting 3 Martin Acrobats??? when used in multiples ive found they work very well, either all doing the same thing or each doing its own thing, you can run them of the martin mc1 controller as wellso they can be fats, med or slow speeds or you can strobe them. I rate them very highly as I have three and they put out a lot of light when used togeter.
  13. Hi Every One Firstly I always keep my cd's behind me as I just allways feel safer and if someone does want to look through them then I keep an eye on them the whole time. When I was starting out many years ao, at the end of a gig my car was being vandalised and I left in a hurry to move it and didn't close my cd csee and when I came back about 30 cds had gone all my now discs and latest compliations had been lifted, you just can't be to careful. The sad thing was the gig was for my own sixthform that i was attending at the time, it was the christmas sixthform social and nobdy had seen n
  14. Hi eveyone I introduced myself here a bit ago, Just to let you know ive uploaded some pics of one of my rigs and me djing at a gig recently. There on the front page of the gallery if anyone's interested. Bye Niall
  15. Hi Guys If I was given a playlist I would stick to it as much as possible as long as it is appropriate. I have been given playlists in the past that were just going to be a knightmare. At the end of the day the Bride and Groom want the guests to be dancing and having a good time. Having the dance floor full whilst not playing exactly the music they want i consider to be more important. We all know what gets the crowd going and what will clear the floor ( cos we're the professionals ) I consider playlists as requests and are that requests and don't have to be played if not appriate.
