  1. I've read "Selling the invisible", found it to be very interesting and quite an eye opener. Not heard of "You Inc" but will look it up now Danno, thanks. Also thanks for the recommendations Paul, will look into those titles too.
  2. Hi folks, A work mate of my wife is organising a 6th Birthday party for her son. April 5th in Bromsgrove times 2pm till 4pm. She did ask me as I've done quite a few weddings and adult birthdays for them, but to be honest i don't do kids parties anymore and as I'm in derby it's a little to far for 2 hours. She wants music and games plus whatever else is offered etc.. I'm not taking a cut or arranging anything here, I've got the lady's contact numbers if you want to PM me, she's quite happy for someone to phone her direct. So you can sell yourself.
  3. So why are they still supplying them / how are they still getting them??
  4. Exactly, I'd of thought that most of us would want to buy the track not just rent it.!
  5. Unless of course I have all the currently available necessary licenses
  6. It may depend on how you're playing out. Are you using DJ software such as otsdj, bpm, pcdj etc.. or just planning to use media player? I think if you're using media player then having itunes on the laptop will resolve the drm issue, unless the files are machine specific of course, in which case.. I use otsdj myself and it won't play DRM protected files that I download from napster, so I have to download on the home PC, burn to disc, then rip into laptop to get them as mp3 (or rather otsfiles).
  7. Have a look at 123 reg they can register your domain, provide a hosting package and even supply a simple site design program based around website templates. If you're new to this that's probably the way to go, but remember in terms of the actual website you get what you pay for so a template site is going to be just a basic static brochure.
  8. Won't you need to have itunes on your laptop for them to play due to the DRM? Also aren't itunes machine specific DRM licences?
  9. Like you Paul I've come across it at christmas parties and corporate gigs, even a few 40th's, but never at a wedding! Not sure if I would like the idea myself as the guests will all have camara's of their own as well as the 'official' photo's for those closer to the bridal party.
  10. From what I understand, and I'm no expert, funky house has a more pop sound to it, whereas electro house is a bit harsher almost industrial. Fedde Le Grand - Hands up for detroit - electro Bodyrocks - Yeah - electro Alex Guadino - Destination Unknown - Funky Shapeshifters - Pusher - funky Freemasons mixes of anything by Beyonce. - funky Super Mal - Bigger than Big - not sure i've heard this one. Try beatport as they have a genre catagory for electro and a top ten downloads for the week/month. I use quite a few of the electro remixes of 90's classics at my resi
  11. From my own experience a laptop is as Paul pointed out a lot lighter and quicker and easier to set up. You simply open it and press a button and voila you're ready to go. With a PC you have to carry in the tower (or rack), the screen, then keyboard, mouse all separately, whereas a laptop is one unit. Also if you're just playing music (pcdj, ots , bpm etc..) most affordable laptops will handle it very well, mine is a pentium 4 mobile series that I got off fleabay for about £200, put a bit extra memory in and of you go. I have however upgraded my otsdj package to include the video module an
  12. I've just moved house and had to go from ntl 4 meg to bt upto 8meg (but round here more like 1 meg) broadband packages. I've gone for the home hub witch includes an extra line so will be using that exclusively for the business. That way the whole hub package becomes deductable :ads:
  13. Mine's a Yes too. Booked for virtually all December and New Years by 2nd week in Jan. All same venues again through agency, they're good at following up on the gigs I've done and securing more work for us.
