  1. Back in the nineties I kept getting asked for "no - no" 2 unlimited's "no limit" kept them happy. Clive.
  2. Really like this tune - I think it will do well and cross over from club to pop. It's being played to death on Kiss down here at the moment. Question is, why didn't they call it "You'll never see me again?", because I guarantee that is what the punters will be asking you to play! A bit like "Have you got "No No?"", which we were all asked in the nineties when punters wanted 2-Unlinited's "No Limit" played Clive.
  3. Good job, Motherwell. I find that there is no point worrying about something, until something bad actually happens. Don't live afraid! Quote: "What I would like to know is when did commission become a booking fee??" Hi UK Hero, good question. With all the agencies I have previously worked for, You did the work, got paid the full amount and then paid your agent (usually at month end). I must stress that these agents were fellow or ex DJ's. Nowadays, the agent will take the booking and charge an upfront "booking fee", as you point out. This is smart business, as,
  4. Propaganda - Duel Classic! Clive
  5. I guess that "Play that funky music" by Wild Cherry would be up there, somewhere. Excellent opening bass line and snare roll. Always had a soft spot for "Pick up the pieces" by the Average White Band, though. LOVED the horns! Clive.
  6. As stated before, it's a good night ending record because of the "finality" of the last note - no fading out. However "down yur in Wayels" it has to be Tom's "Delilah". This also has the same "finale" feel with the big last orchestral note and is patriot friendly. Also agree with UK Hero, make sure everyone knows that your next to last track is your "last one tonight" and then when they ask for more, relent and say "OK, OK, now this really HAS to be the last one as the landlord/owner/barstaff..."etc. - in fact blame anyone bar yourself that the party has to stop at the previously agre
  7. Hey, any programme that has Keeley Hawes' "Bolly Knickers" character Alex in stockings and suspenders gets my vote!  "fire up the Quattro!" - Genius! best since "You're nicked, you slag!" In the first episode, the closeup where Gene & the other two came around the corner standing in the boat all "tooled up" and ready for action was classic! Fell off the settee laughing. More please! Clive.
  8. Great tracks going on there! I've also heared Roxy's "Same old scene" on the programme, but it somehow isn't present on the tracklisting. shame! I hope the programme brings about a bit of an 80's revival - ra ra skirts, anyone?? :joe: Clive.
  9. Hi GigRigg. Firstly, brilliant leftfield, out of the box thinking on your rig. Congratulations. Not many of us would have even thought of a "one piece" setup. I have to agree with others here, though. It's not a practical proposition with the constricted venues that I (and obviously my colleagues here) work in. A couple of constructive points - would the rig look better painted/powder coated in black rather that the white (?) colour you have? This might possibly make the ironwork less "in your face". For the speaker /light modules, I'm thinking lightweight LED effects would
  10. Jimbo55, Saw model rocketry display at a model show near Bristol 2 years ago - very impressive. They launched 2 foot ones and a big :cense: that went up like a greased stoat. The best I saw though was a rocket propelled balsa R/C glider that they brought down on the runway. NICE. I also like things that fly, although mine do not have engines.... http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c31/clivehenryjones/Pike2.jpg 3 metre wingspan Pike Brio Extreme. Just chuck it off the Bwlch (google it) and watch it go! As with a previous poster, I am also a bit of a petrol head, I have
  11. As an addendum regarding the fragility of the barrel's mirrors, I recently found that PLASTIC replacement mirrors, originally designed for broken car wing mirrors ( I found a 8"X5" blister pack @ £4.99) can be purchased from motor factors. just take out the cracked or broken glass elements, they will have to be stanley knifed away from their neighbours and prised from under the rubber "gears" that are the end pieces of the barrel. cut the plastic mirror to the same size using a stanley and straight edge (carefully!!) :ads: and insert them under the rubber gears. a small dab of contact adhe
  12. Hi C.S., So you WERE looking then! :ads: Seiously though - Bags, was the exit you were loading at covered by CCTV? Potential evidence there. Get well soon - NOBODY deserves what you went through. Clive.
  13. Hi C.S. I'll bow to your obviously better knowledge on this one - I did say "Germanic" language - I guessed it came from the northern part of Europe. Wow! a song about a boat at 140BPM - must have been REALLY choppy seas! Clive.
  14. Hi Mattydinx, I've been playing out the DJ Alex version for about 7 months here in South Wales....it's a biggie. - "are you ready!" :joe: The Basshunter "now you're gone" song was originally called "Boten Ana", by the same band and had German, or a Germanic language, lyrics. I think it was on one of the Hard Energy albums. I must admit that I haven't heared the "new" version yet, but as neither DJ Alex or "Boten Ana" crossed over into the charts last year, this version might be the one to get it into the mainstream - a bit like how Booty Luv popularised Tweet (& Seamus Haj
  15. I obviously live in a "time shift" as my Friday went off at my residency without problems, the Saturday however..... Covered a gig for a colleague - firstly, although I had a map, I couldn't find the venue, which was in a busy city centre. Parked up and walked the area to find that my map was correct and the entrance to the hall was unbelieveably poorly signposted, behind what looked to be terraced housing. Had to park on double yellows whilst I unloaded my gear into the lobby - on my own, I might add. Had to go around a one way system to park the car in the building's secure parking and wal
