  1. QUOTE (stevemitchell @ Jan 1 2006, 10:47 AM) Datamoons are what am going for. Am getting 2 and am getting them for £85 each (cost). However they are out of stock untill Feb. Where you getting them from?
  2. I suppose my budget to begin with is around £1000 mark. However, this doesn;t need to buy any lights if I'm being honest as I have more money set aside for that. Is £1000 enough?
  3. I'm looking for a decent first/starter mobile disco. It must have the follwowing: 2 Cd Drives Mixer - that works with CD drives etc (but is seperate) Amp 2 decent speakers to cater for a 100-150persons venue Mic Head Phones Lighting - no more than 4 lights - really like this type of lighting http://www.discostudio.co.uk/djshop/produc...id=100698&t=rev Would anyone in the know, care to tell me what products to go for for each item(s) I require? I don't intend to go out a buy it straight away, but at least it would get me going in the right direction Many thanks in advance, M
  4. Some great advice here people As someone starting out, what make of speakers (and models) would you suggest I invest in? I'm looking to do venues of about 100 - 150 (definitely no more)
  5. Can anyone recommend a decent company that makes the cd players / mixer I require?

  8. QUOTE (DJ Marky Marc @ Dec 31 2005, 11:19 AM) the other thing to remember is if its cheep there is a reason... cheep is not the best option when taking things on the road. and before you buy anything audition the kit at a venue with people dancing. or visit a DJ who runs the same type of kit and see how it looks and sounds.... I agree totally about not wanting cheap. Price doesn't worry me, its all the functions that concern me! lol What should I look for in a "starter" mixer
  9. Is this the type of lighting you were refering to Chris? http://prostarmusic.co.uk/product_info.php...80d7e100b1c0863
  10. Many thanks for your replies so far I am now looking into the lights With regards to the seperate Mixer and CD players - I totally agree! Can anyone recommend a good starter mixer and two decent (but seperate CD Players) - I'm not someone who will be doing any "scratching" etc Thanks for the links for the lights, now looking into it With regards to the speakers: Which is better? Amps within the speakers or speakers going to an amp? Is there a difference in sound quality/reliability? Many thanks once again http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/bigstar.gif

  13. My new years resolution is very much like Tony Blairs - go further with everything I do! Hence my interest in becoming a dj and owning my own mobile disco. I also am looking to develop my kids magic show to offer the "ultimate" childrens party package http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/kid.gif
  14. Thanks for your answers http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
  15. Had a dj do our christmas staff party last week. I thought he was very good, and he was very helpful when setting up with regards to giving me info on how to go about setting up own mobile disco. The manager whom I work for also use to be a DJ in the 70's/early 80's. He agreed that the selection of music he played was very good. However he did comment about the lack of use of the microphone. He said that in his day he introduced every song or gave its name/artist at the end. Does this still happen today or is this a thing of the past? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif
