  1. Crowds like that are so frustrating, aren't they mate. I had a fairly cack night as well. Typical wedding, full of people that didn't want to be there. That said, they were on the floor in fits and starts, it was just very difficult keeping them there. Room was the biggest problem for me; very long, like playing in a tunnel. Awful acoutics as well, struggled with an awful mic sound all night which can drench your confidence somewhat. Still, you take the rough with the smooth.
  2. QUOTE (djwynn @ Mar 9 2006, 01:23 PM) That Sound card is only a 2.1 card (One stereo output) Ideally you would need a Usb sound card with more out puts for linking it to a mixer. A 5.1 card should suit your needs. These are availible on ebay as well as most computer stores. Personally I use USB Creative 5.1 card which is capable of 24bit audio instead of the standard 8 or 16 a standard laptop output would give you. This card works well with Virtual DJ and a Behringer VMX1000 Mixer. I would recomend going with a new brand for such a product such as Creative, Yamaha, Terratec or maya. T
  3. Thanks for the warm welcome, people :)
  4. A good thought though, its certainly an option. Its adding a bit more kit to my set up which i'd rather do without, but I'll certainly have a look into that option. Thanks for the advice. Anyone else got anything to add?
  5. soundcard on ebay I'm after a simple set up for Virtual DJ on my laptop so I can cue tracks in on my headphones. Being a laptop, it currently on has one output from the internal sound card, so an external sound card with multiple outputs is obviously the answer, but will the above be compatible? Any other Virtual DJ users out there with anything to add?
  6. QUOTE Whenever I've been given playlists or long request lists in the past they've usually lasted about 3 to 5 tracks before the clients come over and say something like " this ain't working, just do what you normally do !" and of we go and fill the floor. Same here mate. Weddings are dreadful events once they start trying to take control that tightly. Its an insult really, you're a DJ, there's a high chance you're going to know what makes a crowd tick. Be honest and say you'd rather have a few favourites suggested, whilst guaranteeing that you'll deliver a night 'not to be forgotten' a
  7. Hi, just a quick introduction. I’m Mark, I’ve been DJing for the last ten years or so, although over the last couple of years things have slowed down somewhat due to the break up of the band I used to DJ with every week and the increased focus on my day job. My dad performs professionally as an Elton John tribute (some of you may have even worked with him) and along with being sound/lighting engineer I occasionally DJ alongside him, as well as the odd gig on my own. I’m looking to push myself a bit more this year, hence my registration on this forum to get back in the community, as it wer
