  1. Hi been a member for over two years and love the forum. I find it very helpful when I'm looking for some help or info etc. However I don't always have the time to sit at the computer and chat, and as a relatively inexperienced DJ I benefit more from reading than writing on this forum. I hope this post is sufficient to keep my membership. cheers Gazza
  2. Yep, I agree with High Fidelity :stu: At my age my brain is addled. Can remember every song title, artist and all the words to songs I heard in my youth, yet can't remember things I heard yesterday. Working from a laptop the worst is when you can hear the perfect song in your head, but can't remember the artist or title. Or trying to remember a particular track with the current one blaring through your head. What were we talking about..... I forgot. :hurt:
  3. Sorry, on further research I find that they're not £100 dearer, the VHF ones are £79, the UHF as you so rightly mentioned are £129 so actually only £50 dearer.
  4. Thanks guys, that's what I thought. I'm buying them off the Internet so I wanted some reassurance before purchase.
  5. Hi guys. I wonder if any of you have any insight into my dilemma. :wall: I currently use a Shure UHF (173.800MHz) radio Mic for singing and DJ work and am looking to buy some Kam VHF radio mics for Karaoke. However when I called to place an order I was told that I couldn't use them at the same time as they would interfere with each other, and that I should purchase the Kam UHF system (nearly £100 dearer). I have used my Shure microphone in many clubs where they have a cheap radio mic system for Bingo and announcements and never had any trouble, but I am a little concerned that I may have
  6. I've not dealt with them but having worked for a printer I can tell you that the period leading up to Christmas and new year can be very busy with xmas/new year menus, invitations and xmas cards etc.
  7. Yeah November can be bad as everyone is starting to think about the expense christmas and tend to cut back on spending, January and February can be quiet too, as they try to recoup their spending. Besides, I'm assuming that the figyres in brackets are number of discos you're doing in a day, if so you'll need a rest after christmas!! :snow:
  8. I love Halloween, it's the only day when you can knock on someones door and they give you sweets, it doesn't work any other time of the year, I know I've tried it. :dan+ju:
  9. Thanks for the warning, I'll keep an eye out and let all my friends and family know.
  10. Welcome back, My oppinion on gear is that lots of gear seems great until you turn up at the venue to find your on the fourth floor with no lift! then you wish you brought a ghetto blaster. :joe:
  11. Congratulations to you both :grouphug: someone to help you keep abreat of the latest music when you get older.
  12. :mikee: I agree with ADS if they pay their employing me to do a job to thier liking, hence I'll play what they want. In conjunction with the poll, 'As requested', if they supply the playlist and it all bombs, your off the hook, just make sure that everyone knows that all thhe music played was selected by the organisers.
  13. I've just been sorting all of my equipment out to have it PAT tested by Edbray (fully qualified PAT tester if you live in the South West, check out his Web site (www.vibrant-sounds.co.uk), when it occurred to me, that half of the equipment was brand spanking new, never used. It started me thinking that if we have to have our equipment PAT tested in order to assure its safety, shouldn't manufacturers be made to sell their products PAT tested. I've often heard PAT testing likened to an MOT, so perhaps like a car all portable appliances should come not only PAT tested but be exempt for three ye
