  1. QUOTE (andyw @ Jul 29 2006, 09:55 AM)the law is you cannot work below 16c but there is no upper limit Bit annoying that is really. We did a disco the other week in a room without air conditioning. The outside temperature was 32c at 18:00 when we arrived, and the thermometer in the empty room read 35 already! Didn't manage to check what it was halfway through the evening, but I reckon I lost a stone in weight through sweat http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif!
  2. VistaPrint for me also! Seems to be the most popular choice. I went for the glossy business cards - they show up the colour far better than standard matte: http://www.djmania.co.uk/card.jpg
  3. QUOTE (otronics @ Jul 25 2006, 02:46 PM)Send them a copy of your passport - thats what I did and no trouble at all. Might just do that. Sounds like the MU is really worth joining not only for the PLI but all the advice and support you get http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif .
  4. Well I contacted the MU this morning and they do indeed accept DJs. The £10 million PLI cover and up to £1000 equipment for £54 per year is fantastic! Our equipment value is around £3000 but going by what I was told, the MU's rates for insurance sound pretty competitive, so it looks like the MU for me. Now I just need a way to prove that I am in full time education - bit awkward seeing as the school term ended on Friday http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif ! Cheers for the advice.
  5. Thanks for the advice Chris. I was originally looking at going with the MU for PLI but I believe I read somewhere that they don't cover mobile DJs? Probably wrong knowing me http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif . I guess that contact DJ Guard directly is the best source of information about claims. I'll see what they're like. Would be nice to get the £10 million PLI from the MU though and getting contents cover separate. Might work out cheaper... dunno.
  6. Hi folks, now that we are getting more established in this game, I'm currently looking for a company which will offer contents insurance and PLI cover. I stumbled across the Pavillion Insurance firm which I believe is Musicguard, Liabilityguard, DJguard etc and DJguard are quoting me £185p.a. for £2600 contents, breakdown cover, hire cover, £10,000 personal accident and £5 million PLI. This seems like a reasonable quote to me. Does anybody have insurance with this firm and would you recommend them? The thing that is putting me off at the moment is if I had to make a claim on a piece of equi
  7. 17kHz... and I'm 16 http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif . Must be a combination of loud music and 3 consecutive years at the British Grand Prix.
  8. Thanks for the welcome everybody! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif
  9. Hello everyone, just wanted to introduce myself to you. I'm Tom and run a mobile disco service within Derbyshire with a friend. We've just finished compulsory education this summer and this is something we have been doing since 2003! I know you're probably thinking "Oh no... another teenager who doesn't have a clue", but since early this year, our bookings are on the increase and we've had a good amount of positive feedback. We mainly went into this as we've found it pays better than any part-time job at our age (16) and with myself being able to play an instrument, we are getting more and mor
